Ahh but that's not expecting anything back from the other person. That's merely making yourself feel good having made someone else feel good(preferably).

The fact that all acts we do are motivated by the self and positive emotional feedback we receive from it doesn't make those acts a bad thing either, I wouldn't even say they're selfish. Yes you get a good feeling out of something but that doesn't mean you acted in your own best interests.

What irritates me most about this article is the fact is questions genuine compliments, therefore sewing further seeds of doubts into the mind of the guy who is working his way up to become more direct and openly sexual with girls. The difference in the argument is between lads impressing their mates through thinly veiled alpha behaviour versus being authentic and unaffected by the outcome, through a sheer urge to take action. The later should almost always be encouraged.
