I don't want to take sides on this particular mud slinging competition, but wanted to add that its its a good idea to keep your finances and lifestyle independent of any relationship no matter what the length of it. From a legal and financial perspective marriage is a nightmare for men, basically once you marry a woman she can decide at any point to walk away with half your earthly possessions. She can get you kicked out of your own house, get the new bloke in, and still force you to pay the mortgage and supply her with spending money on top of that while you languish in some dismal bedsit.

after finding out ur 23 i realised the following

u went to uni, didnt long graduate...

Totally agree.. however, you can always sign a pre-nup and make her agree that no matter what happens, she isnt going for any of your money.

a) prenups are not legally binding in the UK, so I understand
b) invest in a hard hat before you bring it up

Prenups have legal weight in certain situations. Things such as her only being able to claim 50% of what you own/have earned AFTER you got married for example.

The idea here is that everything before the marriage he earned on his own but after the marriage they become a couple and split.

Let's not forget that this doesn't ONLY apply to women guys. There have been cases of men walking away with some of their wife's money because the wife was the larger earner. There's not many of them but generally that's because men earn higher than women.

Really? Differs from the impression I was left with when I last sought legal advice on it, which was a good 6-7 years back now. Maybe things have moved on. Still reckon a hard hat would be wise though, possibly shin pads and a box too.
