I think Wakes list is good for the fun jokey openers you seem to be looking for. One thing though, openers are just there to initiate a conversation. As cool and funny as some are you only wanna be spending 10-30 seconds on them and then move on.

haha i was only joking with the silly ass list i posted,
but seriously, you can say pretty much anything to open,

i started off using opinion openers, often good responses and have a story behind the opener.
"is kissing cheating? i ask because i have a friend........."
"if a girl kisses another girl ........"

And Kowalski, you are correct - that is indeed a Withnail and I quote (and a hilarious one at that), but it was Russell Brand who proposed it as a chat-up line.

Yeah it might be on there now but I think Jimmy carr invented it. Its on his stand up show.
