Default Going it alone, A good idea? - 08-09-2010, 02:14 PM

Im starting to come round to the idea that I might have to go to bars/clubs on my own , rather than with a group of friends if I want to get more regular practice in field. But to be honest its not something I am totally comfortable with.

Anyone go out on there own regularly to sarge? Please share your experiences.....

When I started going out alone it was scary! I could manage an hour at most at first. Just had to force myself to be social and always be in set. Eventually became a lot more confident both going out alone and in a group! It's easier to do in a large packed nightclub...you feel less paranoid about people thinking you got no friends. It's also how you frame it too. You're there on your own because you're waiting for your mate to arrive. Nine times out of ten, when you go to a nightclub with a big group, you can lose each other so you're sometimes alone when you're approaching anyway.

Dare you to do karaoke alone....I have, but I'm a crazy mofo

When I was at uni I regularly used to go to dubstep nights on my todd - everybody I knew was into Flo Rida and Jay-Z so went to the temples of hideousness that are places like Oceana.

Anywho, through a need to see some of the amazing DJs who frequented Bristol, I used to go out on my own and found that it's as easy as balls to make friends with people. Just talk to people like you already know them - in the queue, in the dance, at the bar - wherever. I did and had the time of my life.

Importantly, though, I didn't go out with the sole intention of pulling girls. Obviously if there were hotties there I'd roll up and have a chat, but I went out primarily to enjoy myself. I wouldn't advise going out to pick up girls on your own - you'll come across as creepy. Just go out to enjoy yourself and you'll do just fine.

It's just advice, fellas. Do whatever the FUCK you wanna do

well done it once before was fine cos i was at uni and was able to recognise alot of people so didnt feel totally alone. When i go out though i pretty much always approach alone anyway, partly because i like to have full control of the interaction i.e. dont have to worry about my m8 fuking up the set and trying to outshine me which has happened a few times, i think its good because it just means winging or going out with your mates will be easier. Its like training with a weightvest and then getting rid of that allowing u to perform at a higher level.

Definitely, I was going with a group for ages and learning very little in the process.
When I went alone I suddenly learnt a few very important lessons that have helped, next time I go alone I'm expecting a similar thing.

You learn faster.

I guess I just need to go out of my comfort zone with this, I think it will encourage me to open more as I wouldn't want to stand around the club on my own.

I'll come up with a field report when I try it!

Nice one, look forward to reading. Breaking our comfort zones are prob the single most important part of our development in all of this.

Maybe try your hand at Day Game. I used to do this all the time on my own.
