Hey. glad to find this forum, particularly due to the UK presence.
I'm new to the whole 'pickup scene', and have read a few pickup books and watched a fair few videos from various American pickup guys, but I honestly think there's a big cultural difference, and some of the stuff they do would really not work on UK girls.

Anyway, After reading a few books and stuff, I found it hard to actually remember and implement any of the things i'd read, but what the material DID do, was to help me get over approach anxiety.
So, on my first week as a wannabe pickup artist, I went out, saw a cute girl in a bar, approached her, I gave her a canned opener about pretending to know her from some ridiculous event, we chatted, laughed, got a bit drunk, and then I took her home and banged her! I'm 29, and she was 18. (I lied about my age to her)
I was on cloud 9 and couldn't quite believe it.

With my new-found confidence, I went out the week after, used the same 'opener' and absolutely nobody was giving me the slightest bit of interest!

I decided that the opener maybe isn't great and I simply got lucky to find a girl who was receptive to it.
So I started going with much more simple openers and just saying 'hi' (as is often advised to do by pickup guys when newbies always ask ''what do I say?'')
But I then realised that when I start a convo with a girl without using a canned opener to instantly get into a 'fun', 'jokey' conversation, the conversation quickly turns into a very boring job interview, and I find it hard to build any rapport, and it soon fizzles out.

And then to top it off, I had one of my worst nights yet of 'pickup' last night where I could barely get past 'hi' before the girls friend just dragged her away, or the girl was very unreceptive and clearly didn't want to be approached! (at least by me!...maybe if I looked like Brad Pitt i'd have been OK )
On a few I used a situational opener, but NOTHING was working. The girls were simply not interest!


The girls in the various vids I see (usually Americans) seem so extroverted and fun and approachable in comparison to lots of UK girls, at least the ones I approach in bars here in the South East just outside London.
And the way I see the guys at, say, RSD open girls where they just grab them and stuff just doesn't seem congruent in most bars and stuff here. Would maybe be OK if you were on the strip in Magaluf or at a rave or something, but other than that.....

Some questions:
Has the issue of culture differences in terms of Pickup and how you should approach it been addressed much?
What sorts of openers are you guys using when approaching a random hot girl in a bar?
How do you avoid getting caught in a boring ''what do you do? where do you live?'' sort of convo and make it 'fun'. I often find myself running out things to say, moreso in these types of interractions

I try to learn from my failures and my (infrequent) successes, but there's just too many variables! Makes it kind of impossible.
I know i'm guilty of only going for very attractive girls, but I simply don't want to sleep with girls who I don't find attractive, but if the idea of 'game' is that looks don't matter, then maybe that shouldn't be a problem?!
(I approached 2 absolute STUNNERS last night who you could tell knew exactly how hot they were, and they were so conceited and rude, but I still desperately want to bone one of them, but they rejected me straight away, and I kepy thinking ''I don't think it matters how could ones 'game' was.....nobody is gonna get inside one of them girls unless you are famous or are a male model of something!)
