I was shocked after i saw a picture of him but it got me thinking, maybe hes successful with women because he created an atmosphere of mystery and fun when he meets women.

Mystery Method stuff can still work. Especially these days since most people are not familiar with it. However it also worked for him because it was congruent with his persona. I mean he is took on the persona of mystery man with the way he dressed and his magic tricks and created social value.

I think the important thing about Mystery Method is learn the structure of what is working and creating your own persona. I mean you can use some of the classic mystery method openers and gimmicks of peacocking which might be great for initial openening. However you will be stuck in progressing things perhaps into sexual escalation if at a certain point the conversation doesn't seem congruent with the things you would say with your personality. Or peacocking that seems congruent with the unique nuances of your personality.
