so we view everything as a resource... your cat, your emotions, the newspaper and even fluffy socks!

now simply putting it people can feel positive, neutral or negative towards any resource and if you both feel the same way about a resource then rapport is created happy days

but.... if you feel positive towards something they find negative (or vice versa) rappot is broken boo hoo


and here is the cool part, if you have more of a positive resource than them then you gain status



for example, she likes cats and you like cats = rapport

but then lets say your a vet that looks after poor sick cats = status AND rapport

That's a rather simplistic and flawed view if interactions.

It also ignores many facets of human interaction.

its simplistic... the theory dosnt explain all interactions, its to explain how status and rapport are created and broken, theres more to how to apply the theory but i keep that back

no one has come up with a flaw or any useful input.....

Rapport is harmonious communication, a chemistry as such.

What your describing is essentially having things in common which is rather hit or miss. Trying to find commonalities reeks of desparation

that is why we do not try and find things in common.... we identify things they find as a positive and display it.... or tell story's that display that we have plenty of this resource

so if she said "i have 2 cats"

i would say "really? thought of you more of a dog person"


her "nooo i love cats and hate dogs"
