Today I asked my friend how his date went with a girl he’d met online. He told me they got on well and had loads of similar interests. It’s now got me wondering on the importance of holding similar interests. I am currently seeing a girl who doesn’t have that many similar interests to me, but she is absolutely loving me showing her my world and am introducing her all sorts of art, music and of course real ale. For me this feels really exciting as I feel like I am showing her my cool world, which she wouldn’t otherwise have experienced. The best bit now is she wants me to do a painting for her new flat.

So I am now wondering what the importance of these ‘similar interests’ or hobbies are. I traditionally feel the need to find girls who like the same music, or like art, but then it’s also nice to have differences, rather than the predictable similarities. I just thought I’d get your guys thoughts on this?

I have often wondered this and I came to the conclusion that to some people it is very important and to others it makes no difference.
