Hey guys, its happened a few times now when im out sargin, i open a set, get their interest and then i just can't think of anthing to say!

Just wondering if you lot could give me some ideas?

i did have this problem as well. i think at the end of the day it comes down to your conversational skills mainly, and something i got told to do by a friend was to listen to the radio pick out one word at random from what the DJ was saying (example Weather, news, holiday, etc) and then start talking to yourself and try and make the one word become a whole conversation. So from one word becomes a whole conversation, the more I did this the better I was able to talk freely without feeling limited.

If you can generate an interesting conversation from anyword, you shouldn't ever have a problem!

I'd second what Kowalski says entirely. I used to have this problem to and every now and then I still do. The more you get used to approaching random people and opening your mouth to them you'll get better at conversation. As K pointed out, the main cause of the stumbling block is worrying about what you're going to say will be percieved as cool or not by the group.

I also believe that running out of things to say comes from a mixture of nerves (which will ease as you improve) and analysis paralysis by either trying to remember canned material or second guessing what you're about to say.

When you're comfortable with someone you don't tend to run out of things to say. Like me I bet you can talk for hours even about lame ass shit with your best friends. Comfort is key, get used to talking to strangers and you'll be able to 'shoot the shit' with random people more comfortably.

Creativity is like any skill- it can be improved by experience and practice.

Perhaps a book on creative thinking could help.

... but ive heard that it is very good to have at least one story memorized . espetialy beginners like me . to avoid silence
