I find it intangible and hard to explain what I do on the dancefloor to be successful, I just do stuff and things happen. I usually have to be a bit drunk too

"Is it wrong for a man to love his guitar?"

"It is if he puts his balls between the strings, and strums himself to ecstasy!"

I prefer something with more passion like that stampy shit the Spanish do sometimes with casternets etc. (flamenco?). More passion and fire.

Do they do that in pairs?
Tango is a good one for close contact works well for two people !!

salsa is a good dance and girls do like a man who can do a good salsa !!!

flamenco can be done in pairs but its not really use out side of spain that much!!! as for passion and fire then tango is one of the ways to go !!!

I have ended up pulling on there from time to time, if something catches my eye more than the music has caught my ear, but I'm not looking for it. I'm dancing for dancing's sake.

The only time this is not the case is when popping a little comedy dancing or creating enormous and ridiculous dance-offs that get the whole place in a big ironic-faux-American circle of claps and cheering. Which is fucking fun.

Blues!!! There is nothing sexier on the dancefloor. Your body should always have three points of contact with the girl, two of which are usually the knees and the shoulders. You have to be v comfortable around woman(and have them comfortable around you) to even practice it.

Great post man! If you do get a class up and running do post up. I would love to be able to do some hip hop moves without looking a dick. I'm becoming pretty good at partner Jive but I think being able to dance alone is more useful in a club. By that I mean if you get her dancing with you, you are 90% there and all you need are a few moves and some balls to close.
Learning to Jive or Tango etc is a great way to meet woman, expand your social circle and improve your social skills. (I highly recommend it) But in an average club, unless you grab a girl that actually knows how to Jive, tango etc, most of the moves will confuse her. In my opinion 6 smooth simple moves work great.

Call me crazy but I have, and would, only take(n) dancing lessons to learn how to dance in a style that interests me.

If it has such knock on effects, all well and good. They should not be primary motivators.

Peace,

Fair point.

I have to say I was about 50/50 meet girls/learn to dance. Was not meeting the girls I wanted to in clubs and decided to do something about it.

Its worked out very well. Met some great people. And gone out with the type of girl I never would have met before. London is a huge city but in many ways you live in your own little world. Work, home, clubs - same people.

I need to get out, do new things, meet new people.

Ok here's one for ya,

There are a few girls on the dance floor you are interested in. You get out on the floor and get your dance.

What methods would you use to move over and dance with them? I'm assuming you are having a good time and not making it obvious they are your targets.

There is the direct approach, just get in there, dance with her, pull her to you, grind, make out. This is great in some places, but, not great for finding gf material.(in my opinion)

I have also tried moving in and hip checking gently. This works out pretty well.

I find this area interesting because guys jump in and dance with girls alot and get blown out a high percentage of the time. A friend I go out with most weekends is always the first to jumpin. He is v good looking and a reasonable dancer but fails 90% of the time.
