Creatine

Anyone used creatine b4? Tom Hardy built up to film ''Bronson" in 5+ weeks doin 2hrs per day exercise plus creatine and 5000+ calories per day. Thinkin bout having a crack at doing the same.

Creatine wont turn you into a monster-- but its a suppliment that works
it makes you draw water into your muscles - aswell as acts as a stored energy source
you`ll find you can train for longer and hold your strength and endurance while training for longer.

I think there is quite a bit of creatine in steak, as many other things companys sell us as 'supplements'

So may well help more so if you're a vegeterian or don't eat much meat

Refl3x 03-10-2011 10:02 AM

It wont make you as hard as Bronson tho!

Maxemillion 03-10-2011 10:21 AM

yes it will

Joker 11-10-2011 02:44 AM

Slightly off topic but that movie is brilliant. Hardy's the man!

Refl3x 11-10-2011 08:30 AM

you should also take a look at the 80s film Scum - thats a classic

whistleblower 11-10-2011 04:31 PM

5000+ calories is hard going. Especially if that doesn't include Maccys.

Maxemillion 11-10-2011 07:23 PM

yeh bronson is properly acted and much deeper than most films. I like Scum aswell Jaz, "Oi where's your tool?!" "What tool??.. Ahh!" "I'm the Daddy now!" Lol

I'v done the five day loading dose now, 4x5g per day, dissolved in hot [but not boiling] squash (fructose helps stomach absorption). Difficult to see effects because the squash adds a lot of natural sugars and energy boost to my diet AND i'v had flu so not trained other than a lot of walking. However, THINK that I've noticed the following:

more thirst, more water consumption, more need for taking a piss, slight muscle size increase=fluid retention, slight increase in ovrall physical endurance(more pressups), increase in body temperature (could be flu or metabolic increase), occasional muscle cramp. All in all I like it, looking forward to weight training on the stuff, most important aspect is staying hydrated and monitoring piss colour( should be near clear)

I had mild kidney pains and headaches for about my first couple of weeks on Creatine but it passed and didn't come back.

I've since switched to BSN True Mass and it seems pretty good. Gone from about 175lbs to 190lbs over about 7/8 months (I'm 6ft tall). That's BSN combined with a high protein diet and regular weight training. I'd recommend BSN (bit dearer than other stuff) but worth it's imo.

Does anyone mix supplements? Anyone know the do's and don't's? I'd be grateful for a breakdown. I don't trust a word I read in the fitness press it's all ad driven editorials.:hihi:

A lad I know nailed it for about four months straight. Probably having about 25 grams a day. Eventually (and I dont know what happened here) he lost full control of his bladder and was shitting himself all the time. It lasted for about two months - total incontinence. Doctors said he damaged his kidneys and intestine.

Fuck me that sounds awful! :vroam:

Worth knowing, nice one. I'm treating it seriously and only taking 10g per day now that the loading phase is done. Just been out to a club and the alcohol has made my gut somewhat more unhappy than usual, hoping it wont last for 2 months. rehydrating heavily now. also noted today that skipping doses can make me feel unwell, nearly skipped thiseve but then last minute drank 5grams w/ squash and felt alllll better. obv somesort of biological adjustment has been made in the body to process the creatine and this must be kept in balance. A pretty fun hobby so far.

I've done creatine on and off for years. TBH I've not noticed much difference, perhaps a small performance boost.
Just mix it in with a couple of protein shakes a day. Not before bed, I did that twice and couldn't get to sleep.

I'm struggling to take in 3000 cals/day eating clean. I think I need to get on that mass gainer stuff.

You will see a much larger, fuller and rounder muscle belly.

I've been taking creatine now for a little over a week (meant to buy casein but my dumbass got mixed up at the store the first time) and since using it I've seen improvements with my workout ability. I take the creatine about half hour before my workout, and I have seen an improvement in my ability to workout longer, feel less pain, etc...

I've also experienced much more thirst, having to piss quite a bit more often, and I'm sweating less. This last one worried me quite a bit the first few times I was working out, because I could feel my heart rate skyrocketing in the process (couldn't determine body temp), but I wasn't sweating much. So I've begun taking long water breaks during my workout so that I don't overstress myself, and then take a cool shower immediately after workout & whey shake. Seems to be helping. Only side effect that I really don't enjoy is the heavy feeling that the creatine leaves in my stomach.

But in the week or so that I've used it, I have seen quite a change. My (usually) skinny ass is beginning to look like there's muscle there, which is a vast difference to how I used to work out and only seemed to tone, rather than build. And all this within a week? I can't wait to see what three months looks like.

Maxemillion 17-10-2011 11:26 PM

point of note, drinking heavily and creatine do not seem good together due to body dhydrating. next day hangover fucks the kidneys enough without added creatine prssure. have had to miss a couple of days recouping from alcohol, resuming now. might cut down th drink and go out 'to socialise' insted.

lucidfer 18-10-2011 06:43 AM

Thanks for bringing that up, because I had a similar experience with alcohol. Saturday I went out to dinner with some girls and had one Dos Equis with my tacos, and all throughout the movies later I was pissing like I had drank a whole six-pack... I think I ran to the bathroom 7 times within a 3 hour period. So, definitely watch the alcohol consumption with the creatine.

Maxemillion 08-12-2011 12:49 AM

having dabbled with creatine for a while now I really like it. worked out I only need a 5g teaspoon a day to sustain a good level. Whether its the dehydration effect causing me to drink more water per day, or the sugars in the squash I have with it, or the creatine itself - I do feel bigger and more energised when using it. I hold my body in better posture and muscles look bigger from water retention.

Bad side is I drank heavily t'other weekend and fucked up my intestines, think I was too dehydrated for too long. Had bad number 2;s plus stench fart production for several days. Came off creatine immediately and now have to re-do loading phase. Such a shame that drinking seems incompatible with it.

sterex 16-04-2012 08:17 PM

Interesting, I started day one of loading today and was planning a big night out on Friday. Would it be wise for me to put off Creatine until next week? or Just avoid excessive use?? I've read loading isn't all that important in the long run anyhow, just for quick results??

Maxemillion 16-04-2012 11:19 PM

started just drinking the powder mixed into a protein shake, works nicely for a bit more enrgy but yeh if u have a lot of beer u may dehydrat ur intestines badly. maybe skip the dose on the day u'l drink
