Default I'm a 23 year old female journalist - can I come sarging with you? - 17-09-2013, 12:00 PM

I'm writing a trend piece on PUA culture within the UK. I’d love to experience the whole thing first hand. Is anyone willing to let me accompany them on a night out? Preferably someone located in London.

if your looking for people who act and dress like there from the book "the game" your probably not going to find the right people on here for your article.
Most people on here are interested in self development in all areas.
People who class them self as puas are pretty easy to spot their the weird ones not drinking all dressed pretty similar as if its a uniform. Should be pretty easy to spot in London.

If your semi-fit then just walk up and down Carnaby Street & Oxford Street. I guarantee you'l get approached by a day gamer around there. You can ask em' all about it then.

EDIT: Unless it's raining. PUA's melt in the rain!

This really does depend on what you're looking for Emmie. Most of the people on this forum do go out and 'sarge', but none of us really buy into the typical PUA stuff (peacocking, negs, canned lines etc). I wouldn't mind helping you out provided there was a bit of discretion, but my game looks pretty normal, just some guy in a shirt and skinny jeans chit-chatting in a bar. I'm pretty sure you'd be a bit underwhelmed by it and it wouldn't really fit with what you're looking for.

I'm also pretty curious about the tone and nature of this piece. Articles about this scene are generally not written in an even handed way to put it mildly, and I doubt anyone would be interested in being part of a nasty bit of rhetoric on the Vagenda or something like that. Who do you write for?

If you're just curious about the standard 'PUA scene' type guys and all the wackiness that goes with it, I'd recommend either of these options:

1. Get in touch with an instructor and ask them if you can come along and watch them teach a bootcamp. Someone like Sahsa daygame or Ozzie from Real Social Dynamics. I'd imagine that they'd be glad for the promotion, and bootcamps tend to be full of some pretty bizarre stuff.

2. There is a free weekly event for new PUA guys in London called the Saturday sarge. On any given Saturday if you show up outside the Topshop at Oxford Circus at 3pm or outside the O'Neills on Wardour Street in Soho at 8pm you'll notice a large, conspicuous mixed group of men. At least a quarter of them will probably be wearing blazers. After they meet up at these places they form groups and head out to do daygame and nightgame respectively. They'll almost all be completely new to it, but they'll probably fit the stereotypical image of a PUA a bit more than anyone you might find on here.

Y'all think it's bougie, I'm like, it's fine
But I'm tryin' to give you a million dollars worth of game for $9.99

Haha nice!

It's funny really.
The PUA Mystery & Strauss wannabes wouldn't have a clue what to do if a girl came onto their forum. They'd probably hide in their cave in fear that she found out who they really were behind all the blazers, peacocking and makeup.

Emmie,

Don't know who your aiming the piece for but the daily telegraph article I read was quite negative.

I felt there was some truth in it - about the PUA industry taking advantage of vulnerable men to sell their products. There's no product selling here.

I'm quite new to the forum but I get the impression we're more interested in helping ourselves and other people who have decided they just want to improve themselves - especially in how they interact with women and people in general, to get more out of life.

This requires honest feedback on your progress. You don't generally get that from friends and family who find it difficult to understand why you want to change or what you are trying to do.

I suppose it's a counter-culture to the PUA industry rather than promoting the PUA industry like many forums.

It could be an interesting piece if it was a thoughtful and honest look at what's going on. Social self-engineering or something maybe.

In theory I wouldn't mind doing this. I really wouldn't. I think a counter argument on PUA from the inside would be a pretty good thing, and it would be a fun bit of ego indulgence to talk about the amount of stuff in PUA that's bullshit while having it published. In practise it's different though

The truth is that while the school of thought on here is generally more healthy, more interesting and more in tune with reality than the regular PUA stuff it just wouldn't be as interesting to write about it's not as weird. Like the telegraph article, the boxes most people are out to tick are things like pseudoscience, misogyny and wacky headgear. You won't really find that on here. I'd still like to hear a little more from this journalist about this. Even if there are no biters on here it'd be fun to know more about it and see how it turned out.
