After last nights drunken high, tonight’s was a little disappointing in some ways, but I think overall it was a great experience and I learnt a lot.

Yesterday, I was walking around with a lot of social proof, plenty of alcohol to calm the nerves and a group of friends where I didn't really want to do approaches.

Tonight, I met some of the locals - A big Hi to all of you, I am crap with names and I think I remember 3?

It was good to meet up and chat about stuff and watch an opinion opening right in front of me in a nice quiet pub.

We left Headingly and hit town.

I am feeling a bit out of it, I didn't sleep since I cam in last night, no booze (no excuse) and a funny doorman which meant I had to go home to change my shoes.

This wasn't the best scenario to go for my first sarge. I saw one venue in bottom town - Chilli Whites. It wasn't happening there, so we headed up to top revolution. We lost half of the group en route and so now there were 3. I think out of the group we had a collective sarging experience of 1 night lol

It was a bit quiet, but this place thins out early and it was gone 12:30.


We spotted a few sets and talked tactics etc. Having only started reading the game 2 weeks ago I was still tripping up over terminology, but I am pleased that I have got lots of it in my head already.

I didn't approach any sets we identified due to severe stage fright LOL

Eventually, I tried to open one downstairs. Two little lasses (both 6 or 7 - I need to calibrate my rankings etc), one of which had given me IOI's with her eyes a couple of times earlier and made me grin like a 12 yo boy and hide my face, were being pestered by a very creepy guy. I casually leaned in and asked if she was OK with a little arm Kino.

ME: Hey, are you OK
HB1: He's really creepy and scaring me
ME: He does look a little weird
HB1: I can't understand what he says and he won't go away

I Kino'd her a little as we spoke and then held one of her hands as I moved her towards me as I saw on a Mystery clip on YouTube and said

ME: Here, just put your back to him.

We chatted for a few seconds

ME: He seems to be getting at your mate now
ME: Shall I get my friend to scare him away, this is G

I pulled G Unit over and she looked at his muscles (big lad, anyone who’s met him will understand)

HB1: He scares me!
Me: Some comment about her not being scared.

She gave me her mates name and Asked G to rescue her, which he did and he seemed to transition to other conversation easily.

I was then stalling. Her mate being in trouble was the last straw, I wasn't prepared to be accepted when I tried to open and had no idea what to say if I was. It all fizzled out and I stood looking like a dork.

We left a little while later for Bar Risa. This is usually a decent spot, but it was late and I think the rain was one of the reasons town wasn't too busy.

We got in and it was reasonably busy with a lot of low grade targets and a few 7's and 8's. I don't think I saw anything over an 8. Anything over a 6 seemed to be paired up (the nice ones usually go across the road to Oceana a little earlier in the night. Practice time.

I tried to open one with "Do you know my mate?". Fail

I tried to force some IOI’s by trying to stand confident and catching a smile or wink but all except a really old bird wasn’t having any of that. I need to practice that when I really am feeling good about myself like yesterday.

I found a couple of chubby birds that I'd rate as ‘maybe after 15 pints of lager’, so me and G set up the muscle opener. We had tried to plan this a few times, but the sets had moved while we were planning. Bu we had a plan now and tried it on these.

We stand just outside arm reach talking about him at the gym when I lean in

Me: Excuse me, but what do you prefer, big muscles or little ones?
The target (there wasn't much to distinguish them to be fair) seemed less than interested, and I justified myself before her mate jumped in

Target: blah
Me: My friend is trying to get me to go to the gym with him to put muscle on but I don't see the point of lifting heavy weights when there is a perfectly good floor to put them on. TO you girls, which is better, big and muscly or smaller an lean?

Fat bird (fb1) answered instead

FB1: Big!!
ME: how big?
FB1: Big but not too big

I went on to ask her to show me how big on my arms, but she was looking at G's muscles and ignored me.

I waited a couple of seconds and was about to go when she said another girl nearby was her twin. Something I had read clicked and I asked if she was psychic. I think G had the same idea. I asked if they could both guess the same number between 1 and 4. They wanted to do 1 - 10 and both guessed 5. We complained it must be an in joke and fixed and I suggested they should do 1 and 4 again. I said I was guessing too.

Obviously I guessed 3 and told G, they both whispered 3 to him too. I thought it was cool when he got them to come close and whisper so they couldn't cheat. I think he got some Kino.

I made a little fuss about having 2 twin sisters since all of us guessed 3 and must be psychic etc. I got them to pose for a photo of me with me twins (this was the only kino I got. You think about 1 thing and the rest disapears LOL)

It was on her camera and they went to dance before I could get her facebook or get her to send me the photo. Rather than wait we left.

At some point G was standing, singing along to a song and FB1 teased him. I remembered something about accomplishment introductions and come up with a story that he’s a really good singer and should go on X factor. One time we were at a karaoke and the music stopped and you could just hear him singing like he didn’t notice. That seemed to go down reasonably well.

I would have liked the photo from my fist opinion opener and shitty number routine, but it was not to be. It wasn’t worth waiting for.

I learnt a lot. Discussing sets etc was very useful. Watching the others try and game before we got split up was interesting too. I was totally clumsy at kino and got stuck for words. I need practice.

I'm not going to post a FR every time I go out, but this was my first one and while it sounds unimpressive and I was outside my comfort zone by a fair degree, it was certainly constructive and any advice would be welcome.

I think a couple of drinks and a better environment with more and better targets would improve my chances. Here's to more nights, more practice and improvement being around the corner.
