This weekend has been a fairly successful one for me. Mainly because over the last few months I've been suffering from some serious approach anxiety. Friday night in Bristol was all about killing that.

My only goal for the night was to open. I didn't care about closing, routines or any of that, I wanted to get rid of any pressure. With this in mind, in total I think I opened about 7 or 8 sets.

At first we went to a wetherspoons, mainly because there was no loud music so it'd be easier to start a conversation with people. After getting a round in Blinky moved into a set fairly swiftly and it didn't take TAO long to move into a four set by the bar. Summer Junky and I went looking around, but the place was a sausage fest, apart from a nice little two set sitting by the wall. Summer Junky told me I should make the move and as always, I started making excuses in my head. (They were deep in conversation, I didn't want to disturb it) If it wasn't for Summer Junky constantly pushing me about opening them I don't think I would of walked up to them. I went for it "Hey guys! Me and my mates were just discussing this, What do you htink it is that makes hard gums hard and fruit pastilles soft?" They both gave me a look as if to say "what the fuck?!" but then they totally got into it and we actually had a decent conversation. They clearly weren't attracted but who cares? I opened.

On to mbargo and much of the same. Tonnes of girls in here all dressed as animals. Opened a few of them with "I never bothered to ask until now but why are you all dressed as cats?" turns out they were on a trampoline club social. After opening most of my sets here we moved down to a bar called On the bus. As I searched for a target here, a hb6 and I kept accidently bumping into each other. So I opened her with "I'm starting to think you're doing that on purpose" This was my best set of the night I started to work negs, routines and kino into the conversation. She started giving me IOI's. But when I gave her a false time constraint about getting back to my friends she took it seriously, told me it was nice to meet me and leant toward me, letting me kiss her on the lips. After this, as I was at the bar I opened another girl with a lame "you having a good night?" but again it was a great set using negs and kino etc. I didn't go for a close as she was quite drunk, it just didn't feel right.

Saturday night I was out in Swindon and kiss closed. It was far from impressive though.

I went out for a friends birthday. We played drinking games at her house and I knew eveybody apart from a blonde hb7. Moving on to the first club, bushwackers I could feel her constantly looking over at me. Until she finally opened me! "You don't remember me do you?" it turned out she was best mates with my sister back at school. She was really geeky back then and her looks had completely changed, though I recognised her as soon as she told me her name. In my drunk state the words just fell out of my mouth "when did you get fit?" she blushed. I spent the hole night negging and teasing her, building kino and push pull until we got to walkabout and she offered to buy me a drink. We went to the bar and I suggested we do shots. Using a line I heard on Keys to the VIP I suggested we make the shots x-rated. After having the shots she asked, "what makes it X rated?" i replied "this" and kissed her.

Now, when I woke up I had a massive hangover. Turning on the computer I found she added me on facebook. It turns out I must've had my beer goggles on.

I'm really happy about this weekend I feel it's been a success.my approach anxiety is still going to take work but it's one step closer to my goals. I've just got to keep at it and keep approaching. Thanks Summer Junky, you're a legend!! If it weren't for you pushing me for the first set, I think my entire weekend would have been very different.

Sounds like you guys had a stonking night! I'm a fan of the X-rated thing too...may have to employ that tactic myself

Also, the trampoline club? I know those guys! There are some real fitties in there too (one of whom I plan to chat up next time I see her. Well I say "one" of whom...)

It's good that you pushed yourself through the barriers Cefai - after that night in Brizzle where we both failed to open, it seemed you needed a boost and I think it's fair to say you've got it here!

No worries dude. I could see you already wanted to do the approach anyway, which means you were 3 quarters of the way to doing it. You just needed a little push.
