Default forum layout issue - 13-04-2011, 09:14 AM

Something I've been thinking about for a while. I've noticed that people only seem to read and respond to the threads that are at the top of the pile of each section and are visible on the homepage.

Therefore, if somebody else writes a new thread in the same section, the one you just wrote goes underneath it in the pile and nobody sees it or responds to it, apart from perhaps those who have already responded to it and are checking to see if their own posts have been responded to.

I'm far from an expert in these matters, but could the layout possibly be changed so that, say, the first five threads of each section are visible on the homepage?

Okay, that is a good point, I never do that. I suspect most other people don't either and that's why when someone writes a new post in the same section, yours doesn't get responded to.

Yup. New posts button for me. Hit new posts then open everything in new tabs, then once I've been through stuff you can hit it again!

Protip: Middle clicking a link opens in new tab.

Protip: Press newposts as many times and as fast as you can when the search feature locks you out for 15 seconds and you get a countdown timer.

They ALWAYS reply when they are at the top of the pile, but much less frequently when they are not. I'm aware that people should hit "new posts" but clearly a lot of people don't or this wouldn't happen. I'm quite sure others must have experienced this.
