Except when combined with a liquid of a lower viscosity

Seconded. Affects me too; was rank #14 before deletion of thanks.

Admin could add an adjustment_thanked column (integer, default zero), on relevant database table, where it would be used as follows by the code:
Thanked = dynamically_calculated_thanked + adjustment_thanked

The column value would be populated once other demonstrably affected users sent PMs, with proof, to admin.

To maintain fairness of this forum, including the Thanked recognition of quality posts, accrued score would be restored.

I enjoy the thanking and ranking system. It makes it fun and encourages people to make an effort with their posts.

By using the natural human desire to seek validation from other people's opinions. Quite funny how it works even in a forum where people are supposed to be self validating.

Yeah, to a point dude (I totally agree with RSD philosophy), but at the end of the day we are not sociopaths and it's OK to enjoy validation as long as you are not unhealthily dependant on it.

I like being validated on all levels, it's flattering and nice, but if it doesn't happen I am also fine with my own self esteem.

However, I don't want to be completely indifferent and unaffected... my father has been a buddhist for many years and he is totally like this. On one level he is one of the coolest dudes alive, on another, he is one of the most selfish unfeeling cunts I know.

That just made me proper laugh out loud at work! Everyone just looked round at me!!

Anyways, yeah its a bitch about the thanks - I had about 35, now i'm down to zero. The thanks are a good way to let people know that you have quality stuff to say, when you say it. Plus, I like having my ego stroked
...But I'll get over it!

Much love,

Craigus

Your ranking goes up too if you donate some money to the forum...! And I was told if I donate £200, my level would be "MILF FUCKER" rather than "SENIOR MEMBER"....LOL

Over time the significance of the loss will decreaseto near zero anyway. So there isn't really a need to correct it. Everyone was affected, so nobody has a disadvantage. Just keep doing what you're doing and things will sort themselves out.

I will be tweaking the ranking algorithm soon anyway.
