I found this article to be brilliant. Yes, Cracked is mostly dick jokes, however if you read the article you get a real sense that David Wong was subjected to one too many wannabe writers complaining to him that they didn't know what to do with their lives and decided to tell some real home truths with it. I wish someone had hammered this into me back in 1994 or so too.

""But I'm a great listener!" Are you? Because you're willing to sit quietly in exchange for the chance to be in the proximity of a pretty girl (and spend every second imagining how soft her skin must be)? Well guess what, there's another guy in her life who also knows how to do that, and he can play the guitar. Saying that you're a nice guy is like a restaurant whose only selling point is that the food doesn't make you sick. You're like a new movie whose title is This Movie Is in English, and its tagline is "The actors are clearly visible.""

This was me and the major reason why I wasn't successful with women in the past.

Jordan Harbinger of the Art of Charm read this out on his podcast back in 2012 in a brilliantly acerbic style and I've edited that section into its own file and listen to it for motivation from time to time.
