In addition to this he mentions another few tricks to help lose weight:

The obvious drink lots of water. The less water you put into your body, the more your cells retain what water they do have. Drinking 2-3l per day will help you lose weight and be less bloated whether you diet or not.

Eat a high protein breakfast to ensure that you have slow release energy. As per the book's advice and my own experience I find the earlier you eat breakfast the better. I read a statistic that if you can eat 30g of protein within 30mins of waking is optimal bur I get on fine with about 25g within 45mins.

Try and get 20g of protein per meal.

Remove all dairy products as they have a high insulinemic responses. If you really need dairy, cream in coffee/tea and cottage cheese is good. If you have to use spread try either olive oil or plain butter. not olive oil or margarine spreads.

Spice it up with difference spices and sauces provided that they are not cream based.

Eat 5-6 small meals per day rather than 3 large meals
