Exactly man. Just think of all the coolest creative people to start trends. They create a style from nothing, their own belief and attitude carries the style they create. From this trends and fashion can be forged with people buying into what they aspire to. I think Tyler sums this up nicely when he talks about Hiphop style from the Bronx/Brooklyn. Perhaps there was little money to afford 'trendy' and recognisably cool clothes etc., but given creativity in not merely aesthetics but attitude, any clothes can be worn with finesse.
I think you can create any style you want to if you believe in it, and people believe in you (in them).
