I think false time constraints & framing can be useful to minimise blowouts, at least in my limited experience in this e.g 'Hey guys I can't stay and chat long as I'm meeting up with some friends, but you look friendly so I wanted to come meet you.'

- So you're being direct enough to get points for being confident, wthout sleezy

- False time constraint means you come off non-needy and she doesn't have to worry about you hanging round all night when she's out for a good time with friends

- the comment about them looking friendly means they are more likely to act that way towards you
