Totally agree on the flow slide. I play the rather bizzare sport of American Football (lived in the USA for some time!) and this can be a complex game. Lots of set plays, positions and it is "stop start". At first is impossible to get a flow because you are constantly worried about where you need to be for the play. Gradually though it picks up and all the complixities start to make sense and you worry only about beating the other team.

Pick-up is much the same for me - getting into a "state" means understanding the situations far better. On night one clubs were loud, difficult and confusing. 8 nights out in bars and clubs and I'm starting to get used to them; not home turf yet but they make some sense.

So I guess when I'm in "state" my focus is on the girls and meeting them; not worrying about whether I'm "doing things right".
