brief background summary....
I have been working in a hotel as a freelance chef, I like the place and decided to take the head chefs position from him, which I did, a month ago. I have brought in my wing as sous chef and we have taken over. The only person i call 'boss' being a semi senile old bint, the general manageress. Easily dominated.

There is however a rival, and one who has so far resisted all my attempts to dislodge him, a natural with plenty of street smarts. He's 26, from Malta and has been working and living at the hotel for 2 years, he has the place sewn up, all kind of scams, and plenty of lonely female guests to help fill the lonely nights and he is ready to fight to keep this territory. We clash, we both want the same thing, a personal domain with a touch of status attached. We will never be friends or allies, that much is clear.

What do I know about him? Bar manager, Charming in that smarmy mediterranean way. He's clever, attractive to drunk women but disliked by those who have worked with him for some time. He is an alcoholic and suffers from depression. He is a thief and a liar, dishonest to the core. I asked a psychologist friend of mine to check into the hotel and spend some time getting 'Ricardo' to open up and bare his soul in the hotel bar and her assessment was 'borderline personality' and he's almost certainly a sociopath. I know enough to see that I am dealing with a very dangerous animal here, who has nothing in his life but that which I threaten to take.

Would I beat him in a fair fist fight? I don't think so, maybe if I got into him quickly, but he has a weight advantage and is in pretty good shape. I have already called him a 'useless cunt', 'Maltese fuckwit' and 'spastic twat' in front of other staff, in front of his staff who invariably laugh at him and he just looks a little scared. I always lock eye contact when he comes into my kitchen, he always averts his gaze, apologises every time he has to pass by me. Why is he still here? What must I do to be free of this irritation? Any suggestions welcome.
