I think its just an awareness of how you say things. Everyone expresses their intent through language all the time. The basics of NLP seems to be not fucking up conversations by being overly negative. Its not all 'newderection' stuff, its concepts like getting the best out of your brain by phrasing intentions in a way that has positive subconcious influence, like 'I will be powerful now' rather than 'oh man I dont want AA tonight'.
