I've been in many a situation like this SJ, the thing I've found that works is wash rinse repeat, I didn't really know what the name for it was before reading the game but its definitely what I have used over the years. If they say no or stop you, then just say OK then go back to the stage before she stopped you and try to build your way up from there.
