Both writers express massive racism towards the Japanese in their condemnations of this pokemon character. Plus, to be viewing the world in a way that means you keep seeing innocent images like this as racist is a fucked up way to live.

The author of the follow up article states at the end that the character is not based on any racial stereotype after using a lot of text to argue the opposite. He finally concludes that the point is not whether the character is based on a racial stereotype that makes it offensive and ban-worthy, but the fact that it is 'close enough to the old stereotypes to be offensive to some people'.
