Girls and the art of Persuasion

I’m a taking another long break I’ve been recruited by the jackal aka jackass and my first assignment is to sarge a bunch of pubescent schoolgirls, field report to follow. hahaha

Seriously, I don’t mind sharing the real reasons for my departure. My girlfriend wants kids and I don’t, an ex girlfriend who doesn’t want kids wants another try and she’s just got a half decent modelling contract, I’m very tempted. My nine to five is not going well, I’m into my overdraft for the first time in years, I want to take a year out and I need money for that. This forum is a distraction and contributing takes up massive amounts of time which I can do without with the other shit going on and being a regular poster I need to focus my time to more serious stuff.

Back to the topic and I leave you with a great book that helped me enormously, one of the best books I’ve read which fits nicely into PU is:

Persuasion: The Art of Influencing People James Borg.

It’s not about manipulation the idea is strangely based on a 2300 year old idea for successful communication by Aristotle the art of persuasion. Our basic human values have changed but the theory is still sound.

Ethos (ethical – character and reputation)
Pathos (emotional appeal)
Logos (logical)

Moving a person from point A to point B is not about dragging them by the hair in a verbal sense and once you understand the fundamentals of achieving this goal it will become much more effortless.

Ethos refers to the message being believable and therefore seen as trustworthy.

Pathos relates to the emotions felt by the audience.

Logos refers to the actual words used to move the audience.

It will get you into the pants of girls, make your career prospects improve and make you a better person mainly because a good persuader has the ability to understand the other persons feelings, ideas and situation. People think persuasion is about selfishly trying to put your point across by ignoring their side, not listening, talking louder, talking over them, bullying or steamrolling them.

Its none of these and good communicators understand this and you either love them or hate them but they rise to top. Politicians know this art well, you can be a dishonest person (not recommended) but if you emit sincerity the person is more receptive to your suggestions.

Incidentally, being untrustworthy doesn’t advance relationships, honesty does that regardless of your powers of persuasion.

No doubt Kowalski will have an opposed view and I welcome it because I won’t be around to read it.

With the party season just around the corner lots of opportunities to sarge ahead, good luck guys and I’ll be back in the New Year unless I’m selling the ‘big issue’ outside the train station, in which case stop by and I’ll convince you to buy one. :)

Thanks

Providing you can get into a situation where you can both at least talk to each other anything is possible with the right skills.
