Remembering Bruce Lee
Hey Guys,
I was on an MMA forum that I visit yesterday and one member pointed out it was the anniversary of Bruce Lee's death. This led to a discussion about Bruce Lee and his impact on the martial arts world. One of the posts that was made was about the 4 principles of Jeet Kune Do (the art Lee founded). When I read the 4 principles they seemed to translate very well into our community, so I figured id post them up. The four rules of Jeet Kune Do are: 1. Research your own experience 2. Absorb what is useful 3. Reject what is useless 4. Add what is specifically your own Hope thats useful to some of you. RIP Bruce Lee - a true inspiration. |
“Knowing is not enough, we must apply”
“Willing is not enough, we must do” Love Bruce lee Isn’t it funny how at the beginning of “enter the dragon” Bruce is sparring with what look like MMA gloves, way before MMA was invented? |

Haha yeh I remember that scene, they looked like they were huge 10 Oz or something. I remember there was an armbar attempt in that scene too. Very cool :hihi: |
lol i had a burce lee poster on my wall up to about 3 months ago when i redecorated..bruce was the man..godfather of mma. There are so many parallels between me training mma and me doing pu but the difference is i wasnt practicing pu against "live opponents"

i know this might be a little bit off subject but:
How often do you guys train? i train at next generation liverpool when i can be assed, got me blue belt in bjj few months back and had 1 semi pro fight, i want to travel round uk, gaming in new places and training in new gyms. |
Next Gen is a great gym Wake. Watched your lads clean up at the last Ground Control I was at.
I started training at Gracie Barra Leeds last July, got my Blue belt from Victor Estima in December. I usually train 4-6 days a week depending on how my body feels. Not competed in MMA but it is something im hoping to do in the future. Right now im focusing on my BJJ and developing a solid ground game. Would be awesome to train with you guys during the day and then go out on the night. EDIT: Wake did you even train with Paul Sass when he was still at Next Gen? that guys skills are sick |
yeah trained with sass when he was in next gen,
when i first started sass triangled me like 8 times in one roll, but i got better and was able to keep up before he left for kabon, i won 1 ground control a while back, but there were only a few in my devision, next big tournement pm me an ill go down, roll n shit. if im ever down leeds ill get in touch, or if you fancy training down next gen and hittin liverpool town later, pm me man. |
i train in gracie barra in northern ireland hoping to get blue next chance victor estima or jude samuel comes over, had 3 semi pro mma fights so far, really considering headin over to england for a while, theres so many more places to go and train at, would def up my game. I really have managed to conquer anxiety when it comes to fighting and have been able achieve the goals and get to were i wanted to be, i just wish i can achieve the same type of results in pu.
