Eckhart Tolle - A New Earth

Came across this recently, the follow up to Power Of Now.
I'd never heard of it so decided to give it a read.
Essentially it embellishes the Power Of Now, but lays down practical applications for real life, making for me the ideas and material seem more relevant.
As always read any self-help not as doctrine but with the intention of culling the pertinent bits for you.
There are places where Tolle veers into religious/source/energy territory extrapolating visions for society - I struggled to stay grounded during these parts whilst still understanding the general gist.

The fundamental thing I took from the book is how much easier life is when you are present.
It also became clear that although I thought I had understood 'The Power Of Now' when I read it a few years ago, the ideas hadn't really sunk in.

I can see that being present and letting life just 'be' will have profound implications for everything, job/career/women and enjoyment/attitude towards life generally.

Read if-

You enjoyed 'The Power Of Now' or Tolle's philosophy and writings

You've heard of Mindfulness, Being Present etc. and are looking for something practical to help you get the concepts with deeper material in there if you are ready.

I have this on my phone for ages now I just haven't got around to reading it. I have dozens & dozens of ebooks & sometimes felt so overwhelmed by how many that I decided fuck it I'm not reading anything then. A bit similar to when you've got so many Xbox games you can't decide what to play.

But anyways, I thought the power of now was a chore to read. It isn't very straightforward as far as I recall, & the way it's written is just confusing.

I think it can be summed up in that one phrase, BE PRESENT. In the same way that book "feel the fear & do it anyway" was a waste of time reading as the title tells you all you need to know.

I don't do enough reading though. I do want to but instead I stress about coursework & how I'll continue with all the books I have to read once I'm done with it.

I know what you mean about accumulating piles to read and then being overwhelmed.

New Earth is definitely easier to read and more practical.

Of course you are right- it's essentially just 'be present' !
But it's jumping on points - if you are completely new to any concept some people may need more demonstrable examples to get the message through.

You could probably explain meeting girls in just a couple of points - like be yourself.

But being told 'be yourself' was little use to me.
Models was great.
But at some point we all know the danger of consuming too much 'material'
