The Players Guide to Text Game

Brought this guys book a couple of days ago

Read a few of his posts on other blogs and checked out his site
His posts seemed pretty good, all his books seemed marketed well (hmmm?)

I thought I would buy the cheapest one, see how good it was.

Christian McQueen - The Players Guide to Text Game

The book is about 69 pages long (actually 48 since the other pages are samples from his other books) it has some decent info and very easy to skim through.
Unfortunately most this info is free to find on blogs and forums through simple google search. Would most likely benefit some, but I do feel a bit disappointed.

I was tempted to buy his other books since they looked more interesting, but now I don't really want to take the gamble.

Anyone else read his stuff? What do you guys think?

Reading material is outlined here

I don't think I've read this guy's stuff. I did buy 'Text appeal for guys' by Michael Masters. A lot of it seemed common sense, like not texting girls late at night when your drunk.

Sometimes the benefit in reading stuff is you realise there's nothing there that you didn't already know.

I still think text is only useful for confirming dates, times, etc or talking about things you've already talked about in person.

Definitely looks like that. He's a newbie, from my experience with newbies, you've gotta get em before they go all pua-ey. However my thread implies there is no particular way about this, hence it is not the be all and end all.

I think almost everyone goes through the PUA-ey stage initially. Hopefully they come out the other end without too much harm being done. But it's maybe an important part of the learning curve and you can't simply miss it out.

I feel as if I'm coming out the other end of it now. You learn the 'rules' first then once you have more context through experience you can break them. The danger is you continue to stick to the rules thinking there's a right and wrong way.

The worst bit about pua is the idea that game can be used to attract any girl. If you don't attract her then the inplication is you're game needs improved or fixed in some way...enter the marketing of pua products to provide the answers.

In reality, nine times out of 10 you did absolutely nothing wrong. The girl was just unavailable or not interested in you and never would be, no matter how tight your game was.

I barely use social media stuff. I text a bit but don't use the likes of FaceBook, Twitter, etc.. I always state to girls that I'll text now and then but the people who I'm talking to face to face get the most attention.

I had 1 girl yesterday text me because I hadn't replied to her post on twitter. I replied "I have twitter?" and she just asked to meet instead.

I have absolutely no intent on using loads of time talking random shit over text. It's cool at the beginning but even then I'll keep it to a minimum; after all I've just told her that if she wants to talk to me then we should meet.

Girls are the biggest attention seekers going.

In my experience with girls the process normally goes

Get number - text(whatsapp) - call - meet up

Usually unavoidable, never used to have much problem with it, although I'm normally better over the phone or face to face.

I'm surprised you lot can avoid texting, feels like it's been an important part of talking to girls since I started dating ( curse of being a 90s baby I guess lol)

Also what is PUA-ey?

Serendipity 06-04-2014 10:03 PM

I don't think we said we could avoid texting. It's a communication tool that everyone uses, just not a very efficient one gor 'game' imo but the debate will go on.

By PUA-ey we meant someone getting into the PUA community mindset, not getting results, but keeping on following the rules rigidly in the belief that better execution is the key.

It might be good if it gets you talking to girls rather than not talking to them at all. But eventually you realise women are almost like human beings and nothing to be terrified of.

I find texting to be ineffectual without meeting the girl. Hence, if you state at the beginning that you don't invest much time in texting, instead you like to meet in person and then build rapport with the girl (via text, call) over a day or 2 (typically I'll only text a few times during the day and usually mid day and evenings). I stated to the girl that I don't use text much so if I text her continuously then that contradicts what I said and basically looks like I'm changing myself to suit her. *Mean what you say and say what you mean* ... I'll normally meet on my way back home from work, we'll chat a little more and if it's cool then we'll do something like get a coffee or go clothes shopping and if not then nothing lost, I'll jump on the train, lock eyes with that girl with the pram who always seems to be staring at me whilst the sarcastic conductor asks if I want a return ticket when he already knows I'm heading back home.

I've only found out about the PUA community since January, i still have mixed feelings about it lol. half the things I've seen on blogs, vids, books ect dont seem like the things i would try, but i have to respect the results they get.

most the material i see, i dont think is very suited to my personality or my social circle. I'm more interested in the core of 'game'.

hopefully i dont get too PUA-ey lol

I don't understand what you mean by "don't seem like things I would try", but if you're all about building from the core up you've come to the right forum. I believe what you've read is traditional pua bollox, stay far from that place. Keep us up to date with your progress and we'll be there to help.

There are a few things you can learn from The Layguide. It's designed as an introduction to seduction literature though.
