Self-hypnosis

I've always dabbled in meditation. Meaning I'll start doing it, say I'm dedicating to doing it, then a few weeks later it all fizzles out and I stop again.

Obviously I consciously know that for permanent benefits of meditation you do it daily but it's just never stuck with me because it's, well, boring as fuck sitting trying to force yourself not to think, or to constantly draw your attention back to zero. It's actually quite a bit of effort to nail it.

After a stressful day at work today I decided this evening I needed to start meditating, again. But instead I tried something different and looked for a self-hypnosis audio based around positive thinking and did that instead.

I lay on my bed in the dark and played it and got comfortable, and really fucking concentrated so as to get maximum effect. You go into a sleepy state whilst listening to him. His voice in the audio slowly draws away as if he's moving backwards into in an echoing room, or something. It's clever, but you can tell that's part of how you are drawn into the hypnotic state.

Anyways, at some point in the 20 minute audio I completely lost consciousness. I definitely wasn't able to think for myself or anything like that, but I believe there was a scene in my head which I don't now recall. How I know this is because I was intensely shocked out of the very deep trance I had been in, complete with an involuntary groan.

That was about 2 minutes before he did the countdown to "wake you up". I lay chilling to complete the process anyway. But I think I experienced something way more intense than I originally intended, or expected. Which was what I needed.

Bottom line, it was awesome. Looking forward to doing more of this hypnotic shit.

I did some more self-hypnosis this evening, and it was awesome.

This time it was a 30 minute session on the law of attraction. It was a female doing the talking, and it had been advised to use headphones. So I did that, and I'm glad I did.

She began talking, and immediately or very soon after, more dialogue was shadowing hers. I'm sure there's a simpler way to explain but, there was the main thread of dialogue, then on top of, and around that, she, or someone else was whispering affirmations in the background, and it was circling your head (this is why the headphones were important).

It didn't take long to have my head kind of spinning. The multiple voices and affirmations and things that are being said, and the fact that they seem to be coming from all angles and circling you, just leaves you sort of mesmerised. It made me think of the chapter in The Game where Neil Strauss told the story of him being hypnotised by Richard Bandler and the other guy, who were circling him as he sat in a chair, whispering affirmations and stuff to him.

Anyways, I did go into a total hypnotic trance again, where at some point I lost control of conscious ability and thought. I don't know how the audio ended but it must have ended and I snapped out of it (pause) ---> I just went back to the video and checked, there was a lengthy countdown, but I recall none of it, I just woke up feeling invigorated.

This shit is amazing. I highly recommend.

Hello guys - I am new to this great forum but I am a professional hypnotherapist and I am testing new concepts on myself and others. Currently I am working on affirmations and their efficacy. As such if you would like I can make audio files with affirmation lists and send them for free as I am curious about the results!

So Dan, you still doing this self hypnosis?

I tried it for 2 months (Dec 2019 and Jan 2020) and it was worthless to me, didn't make me feel any better about myself. I was using an affirmation/hypnosis video from Aaron Doughty at the time.

I get the feeling that it works for specific personality types.

Nah. I don't think there's much difference between it than meditation.

Just wishy-washy hippie bullshit.

Yup, my thoughts reflected. Best way to do it is to see a professional or therapist.

That reminds me, I ought to book a reiki session.

Just spent an hour trying to find this particular guided video on YouTube again

Now that I'm a regular microdoser I'm going to give it a pop and see if it's any fun
