Definition of wealth?

What is your definition of wealth?

We all have ideas that constitute what wealth is. Is it an abundance of money, women, property, job prospects? Or is it something more. Marc's weekly bake sesh put this question forth and our answer was this;

Wealth is?

The overall reduction in the emotions of one's life that equates to stress

This means that to be a wealthy guy in life is to get up everyday and be in whatever situation your in and not be stressed about anything.

Easier said than done, everyone's life is different so as far as stress levels go were all going to experience different levels to different degrees and intensity's but I think the question is that despite this, what steps and actions are you taking to make your life easier, lower the stress and make yourself more wealthy?

That's an interesting definition.

I tend to look at it from, 'What is a rich life?' I do not believe a rich life is heavily focused on monetary wealth but instead a rich life is an enriched life; this is through life experiences, meeting good people that have had a positive impact on your life, travel, sampling varied foods, education, the company of quality friends, seeking pleasure/eschewing the mundane. It's quite an Epicurean philosophy.

The only person I see living this out for real is Kowalski and I admire him for sacking off the 9-5, leaving the rat-race and doing what he really wants to be doing instead.

I like that Hustler, out of interest what is it K's done? I've seen he's in Spain but has he sacked of his job and living out here as writer or something. Hopefully he reads this and get let's us know. Having traveled out here I really see there's more to life than the 9-5 drudgery that most of us endure. Will be interesting to hear your thoughts K.

From what I gather he does cool shit all day everyday, skateboards, takes in the sights, catches some rays, eats snails, picks fruit from the roadside (free snacks) and occasionally sleeps on the beach. To make money, he just pimps himself out teaching English. What a delightfully simple yet enriching life-style.

I could go on about this for hours, but in brief ...

I used to grow weed (a drug analogy, yay!) and I learned through doing it that stresses and strains are important for growth. If you keep plants completely free of adversary, they don't grow strong. Mostly this means; introduce wind to make the boughs strengthen so that they become larger and more efficient transmitters of nutrients. Some horticulturalists even infect their plants with specific diseases to fire up their immune systems, which generates a stronger healthier plant and better fruit and other similar tactics.

I like this! So perhaps wealth is;

The overall awareness and healthy appreciation in the emotions of one's life that equates to stress

And therefore upon this self-awareness and realisation still choosing to set out a clear path in your life that you are consciously making and are happy with. Such a mindset will be conducive to an accumulation of wealth in one's life.

When John Lennon was five he was asked to do an essay on what he wanted to be when he's was older. He gave an assignment in saying that he just wanted to be happy, they tried to say he didn't understand the assignment, he said they didn't understand life. There's your answer
