So I might be moving to Manchester...

Because Grantham is such a shithole, and because I fear being trapped here for the rest of my life, I had a nosy at some jobs in Manchester. Nothing fancy, just minimum-wage type stuff, the object being to at least be able to live somewhere good.

Anywho, what should come up but pretty much my dream job - working in a music shop and helping people out when it comes to buying, repairing and tuning acoustic pianos. Obviously, I applied immediately and am now coming to the realisation that moving to Manchester, even if I don't get this dream job, might be the best idea ever. Then again, I might think it's the worst idea ever tomorrow morning.

Keep your eyes peeled, I'll keep you posted...

Update: Got an interview next week, probably Monday, depending on if I've got to work.

Blanca 31-07-2011 05:01 PM

Right, got me an interview on Wednesday, at 5pm. Thing is I'm unsure whether to drive, drive/park and ride or just get the train.

Anyone have any practical advice? I realise parking might be an issue (it's at Forsyth's just off Deansgate), but the train might well take 4 bleedin' hours.

Pretty much on the corner of Deansgate and Bridge Street

Good luck! If it doesn't work out, London is ripe for the picking, even though there's more crap to sift through... LONDON!

Get the train,
Go on the companies website and print off everything you can find out about them from their own webby and google.
Chill out on the train up there and read all of it and digest.

so when you get asked ' so what do you know about the company'.....Boom!

ps DO NOT meet Kowalski beforehand for a joint

Blanca 03-08-2011 10:30 PM

Update: Absolutely bossed the interview. It lasted nearly 2 hours and mostly involved me and the bloke having a bit of a chat and me playing one of their grand pianos like an absolute ninja. Also befriended a Somalian traffic warden.

Fingers crossed I'll be back in 2 weeks.
