Default Who remembers the 1990s? - 11-05-2021, 10:50 PM

Who remembers the 1990s? What a great decade it was! There was great music and great clubs back then. And the internet was just starting to become really popular as well. I first heard about the internet back in about June 1994 when radio and TV shows started talking about it. The first cheap mobile phones also came out around the mid 1990s too. And by 1997 you could buy a cheap contract free pay as you go phone.

I thought that is topic would get far more response! So here is a classic tune from the 1990s to show how great the music scene was back then. This song called Runaway Train came out in 1993 by American band Soul Asylum. They used to be a punk band in the 1980s called Loud Fast Rules. https://youtu.be/NRtvqT_wMeY

Another thing about the 1990s was that online forums just like today were very quite! I think that it actually was not until towards the end of the year 2000 that website forums began to get really busy. And not until early 2001 that they because extremely busy. The old forums of the 1990s usually only had one topic section for them and were still quiet. It was only as they became quite busy from late 2000 onwards that forums were divided into separate topic sections. And early website forums looked terrible as well. They looked a mess compared to todays clean smart forums. And you could not post photos or video clips in them either. In recent years website forums have become very quiet again due to the massive rise of social media and social media smart phone apps.I think Inprefered the earlier days of the internet from 1999 to 2005. Because at least you identity was protected behind nicknames.

Fantastic highlights of the 1990s:
- Rise of Vladimir Putin
- First Gulf War
- War in Kosovo
- Mad Cow disease
- Kurt Cobain painting the wall red with a shotgun

1990s were definitely great thanks to those. I will miss those times dearly.

The 1990s also saw the rise of the PUA scene! As the internet USENET group Alt.Seduction.Fast was founded in 1994 by a student of Ross Jeffries. USENET groups were the forerunner to website forums like this one. USENET developed from email in 1980. And it is still around but you need either an email programme to access them or a special USENET client programme. At the end of the 1990s the internet went mainstream especially the world wide web. By late 1999 most people had an email address and were regular internet users.

The mobile phone also became popular in the mid to late 1990s. They became even more popular in 1997 when contract free pay as you go phones became available. Though there were a couple of smart phones back then they were very basic and cost a fortune. So most people stuck with phones that could just make calls and text. I remember the phones of the 1990s were really strong and tough and were built to last for years.

Glory days before wokeness and hysteria took hold...glad to have lived through and grown up in the nineties/naughties when you could have a laugh, everyone had some money in their pocket, and Britain had a real buzz about it. Last 10 years everything has just gone downhill so quickly, I feel sorry for kids growing up today with propaganda all around.
