Self improvement -
11-11-2009, 01:34 PM
Has anyone else noticed that now they've decided to improve one area of their life it's spilling over into others?
At the moment I'm improving my drawing, discovering new learning techniques, studying design theory, reading stuff on evolutionary psychology (going to write something related to attraction on this soonish), improving my posture (this isn't for attraction it's so I don't knacker my back) and fitness.

"It is if he puts his balls between the strings, and strums himself to ecstasy!"

Can totally relate bro.
Am usually a positive person, but my juice is through the roof, and outlook on everything is win win.
Wow, and who would have thought my outlook on women could have been such a negative block in my energy pipes!!

A man stands on a cliff looking at the ocean.
It looks so still but so powerful.
The man jumps in wanting to feel its power and life.
It overwhelms him and he fights to stay above the waves but they push him under again and again.
Finally the waves subside and he swims to the shore.
He feels numb from the cold, numb from the effort, numb from the experience.
The only way to feel alive again is to jump back in.
Church!

It's wierd but I can kind of relate to what Tom's said. I'm bipolar but I haven't suffered from a single depressive episode since I started this whole process at the start of the summer. This is particularly exceptional considering I've got through the first couple of months of uni (which is always a maelstrom of emotions - mostly depressive and mostly regarding work) without any serious blips (obviously there's been odd moments here and there, but nothing as bad as last year's 3 month depressive episode over the course of the winter).
Furthermore, I've had a lot more manic episodes (especially over the summer) and have been doing a lot of the stuff associated with it - going to the gym, tackling my uni work with more aplomb and eating more healthily. My flatmates say they have noticed a difference in me - I'm more outgoing, even more confident and cheeky and seem to be just generally happier.
So much the better, onwards and upwards!
It's just advice, fellas. Do whatever the FUCK you wanna do

@Blanca, nice one mate. Whenever i'm around you you're always very cheerful and 'happy-go-lucky' you're an uplifting person to around. It's an attractive quality and its great that your friends are noticing this change in you.
I've noticed with this i've made improvements in other areas also. Such as getting into physical shape, eating healthier, learning to drive and cutting down on my drinking. I've also felt no need to buy material things for gratification as in the longterm they will not give me a sense of fulfillment. All these things take can take alot effort and it can be a juggling act sometimes, but as with pick-up and anything else worth achieving in life its going to take effort.
It was fear of myself that made me odd
