moral of the story is

a, If you have a girlfriend. acting jealous does not stop them cheating... acting cool does. Giving them a need for a shoulder to cry on. Shit like that u need to just either deal with it, or finish the relationship.

I think he's within his rights to ask her. After all, if the first thing she does after an argument is goes for a fuck then she ain't worth the effort. It's one thing to ask but completely another to give them shit for it, which drives them away.

Its not like Phil wants to marry the girl...

I fail to see where the ex boyfriend was "in his rights" in any way. Its one thing to be insecure about your girlfriend's ex fucks, another thing to have a conversation with her about how he feels, but if he wouldn't drop it and gets all weird.. well it isn't healthy for anyone

He's within his rights because maybe he doesn't want to out with a girl who hangs around with backups (as you can see from what happened).
He's NOT within his rights to give her shit about it, he just has to make a decision of whether she's good enough to stay with or not.
