Pre-sarging music

So I listen/play a lot of music but find sometimes that some music is damaging to your confidence game while other music greatly improves it. It may sounds obvious but if I listen to some darker stuff it reflects on my mood, and if I listen to more fun stuff I feel better. For example I listen to a lot of heavy music and find that bands like Every Time I Die improves my game a lot. I was just wondering if anyone gains the same effect from music and from what bands/artists? In other words, what music do you guys listen to to help you get in the sarging mood?

Refl3x 09-02-2011 11:23 AM

I love all kinds of music from dance to heavy metal.

To get me in a high energy state i listen to some good upbeat dance, i then use this state to project onto the girl, energy, happy, jokey, fun vibe.

Metal dont get me wrong i love metal...has aggressive, depressed undertones.
hence numerous suicides in the metal groups fraternity- curt cobain etc

coveredeyes 09-02-2011 11:32 AM

Yeah. it's certainly something I need to cut down on. The high energy dance music sounds like a pretty good idea. I'm pretty new to dance music do you have any good up-beat recommendations?

Kurt was in fact part of Grunge and in no way connected to the heavy metal scene. Regardless, I don't see a parallel in the dark sounds of metal and the world suicide rate. If anything metallers are the friendliest folk I have ever come across. Perhaps there is more of a connection in the Black Metal scene of Sweden, where a more sinister undertone took place. But again this was more about burning churches.

Anyway. Any music that makes you boogie has gotta be a winner pre-night out. For me, D&B, metal and Rock n Roll all do the trick.

I just grouped a whole host of different syles into metal-- wether it is empirically correct or not.
Nirvana for instance.. Lithium - anti depressant - notions of schitzophrenia
Rape me.. etc etc

Over and over are aggressive, depressive lyrics on many of these songs

Rap tends to be mainly aggressive lyrics.

Now the correlation is more complex than the obvious-- ie its more to do with the person who listens to this music than the music causing it.

I love Nirvana

Personally, I like to smash on a bit of DJ Hero against monkeybuster. Can't help but get picked up by that game. Some awesome mixes on it to get pumped by before going out

One-man dance party is the only way to go!

Much love,

Craigus

But other than that, I listen to a mixture of stuff pre-sarge:

Common; AC/DC; DJ Format; Motorhead; The Who (My Generation & Baba O'Reilly particularly); Motley Crew; MJ; Little Richard; plus tons of old-skool, happy hardcore, etc.

Much love,

Craigus

For sure. I generally love dark music - heavy/death metal, grunge, D&B, etc. Whether painful in it's feel or lyrics it delivers to me the biggest buzz of any musical styles. If you look on the other hand and more 'pretty' sounding music like Radiohead or Aphex Twin it can make me feel sad or depressed. I guess there's no hard and fast rule to how any music affects any one person and what fires you up for a good night out.
