Default The Game - The Secret Society of Pick-up Artists - 15-04-2009, 08:52 PM

Any one heard of this book called The Game? by some guy called Stylish or something he's into picking up people.

(Actual Photo)

About him and some guy called Conundrum. They go around around showing people how to pick up properly (bend at the knees...etc) They end up at the Hollywood project (kinda like the Manhatten Project but with less radiation). Half way through Brad Pitt from Fight Club shows up and acts like kinda a dick.. Kurt Cobain gets involved somehow but I lost track at that point...

Seriously though, what are thoughts on The Game from a literary/ mind opening sense?

I personally love Neil Strauss , not from pick up but from his work

The Dirt - The Motley Crue story
Dont Try this at home - A year in the life of Dave Navarro (one of my heroes)
How to make love like a porn star - The Jenna Jameson Story

and that's just to name afew !

In regards to the book , i will forever be indebted to it as it introduced me to the world of pick up and has led me to meet a group of guys who i now consider brothers and very good friends alike . But also from taking me from a reclusive musician to an awsome musician who also rocks the social awsomeness .

At first it was my bible , as Kowalski said it portrayed the MM in a very positive light and other were left in the shade . As MM was my gateway drug into the world alittle bit of it sticks with me (as im sure us all) . As you learn more and more you start to realise that other schools of pickup are awsome too so it's all good in the end .

SO .. Good book , good read and a good introduction i would say

I thought it was quite a good book, it led me to the world of pickup, but I've seen mystery on The Pickup Artist (VH1) and think he is better at teaching this stuff. Its a good read though, even though I agree alot of it can seem phony and impossible some of the time. It is a good intro to the pickup world though.

Undeniably groundbreaking when it came out and still a worthy first step in to the world of pick up.

However.

Style does appoint himself a role of biblical proportions that becomes self fulfilling prophecy on publication. Yea, I say unto thee, had Mystery the Baptist not anointed the style Christ then an age of sexual limbo would have been wrought upon the son of man… probably not.

Still, finders keepers I spose.

I'm reading the book at the moment. I can't put it down.
What you have to realize that Style came about as we all do. We
all want game. And that it is all a game. I think the point that I am getting
from it so far is that we should learn and play the game. To better oursleves
and to obtain the girl we can never get. The jock's Gf or some rich millionare who has that trophy wife.
Validation is such a reward but will we lose sight of what we want or just keep playing the game? Hell I'm up for it.

I found it by chance on amazon and I'm glad I found it. It is entertaining to read and some of it I took with a pinch of salt, but even bearing that in mind I could see that a lot of the points it made about the psychology of pickup were true. I knew these things, but I wasn't properly conscious of it, and I deffo didn't use it to my advantage when socialising.

I've just finished reading The Game for the second time tonight, and there's some absolutly beautiful quotes in there. The one where he's on about Love, saying that it comes and goes when it chooses and it could say around for a second or a life time and you have to embrace it when you have it and be thankfull that you had it when its gone. Quallity book.
