Hiya guys,

I feel I am at a cross-road; after a somewhat successful journey into pick-up I stumbled upon what is now a recurrent and debilitating problem. I cannot seem to overcome the fear that my approach could be percieved as creepy and this problem has now got the point where my approaches have been reduced to zero. I feel I am now at the point where I either need to completely destroy this fear or just settle for women I don't really like.

I mean I know that the choice seems easy but I'm at the point where I just don't know where to start again. It's like some sort of OCD I feel I'm fighting. It was always in my mind when I started pick-up but in the last few months it's just reversed all the progress I've made. I know what to say and how to act in general but there's this core anxiety that definitely undermines any knowledge I may have acquired. Being back in Somerset compounds the problem because everyone knows everyone and a blowout always becomes gossip and my self-esteem isn't prepared for that kind of pressure.

So I ask, does anyone have any highly motivational material or wisdomful advice? Sorry to be a whiney bitch. I will work to regain your respect

your mindset for opening should be you're the fun carefree high-energy guy who is simply around to be sociable, smiley, fun with everyone in the venue (not just with your crew) and view people on the night out as an extension of your crew

I highly doubt that. EVERYONE.... ALWAYS? So EVERYONE in Somerset is interconnected with EVERYONE else and ALWAYS talk about you in some sort of real-time neural network telepathy shit? Er, nope. That isn't even remotely happening. You ain't famous. They don't give a shit. Smile and say hi with some high energy situational opener. How can there be a massive offense taken?

Like Rebus says, there's nowt creepy about all this. I used to think this and that girls simply didn't want me to hit on them even before i found the community. You'll just have to take some risks, and leave anyone gossiping to watch on while they hold their bottle of beer up against their chests at the edge of the dancefloor.
