Recording day game - best way?
 

I'd like to record some of my daygame sets to have a listen to later.

How have people done this? Attaching a lapel microphone seems a little bit obvious. What type of mic do you use, and where would you attach it to pick up decent sound quality?

Why do you think so?

For me I think there's value in listening back to some of my interactions.

Exactly the words I was gunna use.

We think so because it's weird, and you'd be recording people without their consent. How do you think a girl would react if you said "by the way not only am I randomly chatting you up but I'm wearing a microphone". Even worse is videoing it.

Just practice speaking clearly as you go about your day.

I have no intention to ever make a recording like this public. It is *purely* for me to listen to for self-improvement. So I take your points, but would push back on them:

This is not for me to publicise, but for my own improvement. Much like recording myself playing tennis, giving a public talk, or during a high-pressure interview. I understand the fundamental difference in terms of knowledge of the recording, but this is not illegal or, imo, unethical.

Speaking clearly isn't my issue. I suspect it's intonation, speed, topic choice, or something else. I am not sure. What I do know is that live feedback and review have been my biggest aids for growth in many areas.

You record yourself playing tennis?

Live feedback = the response you are getting from the other in the moment
Live feedback ≠ listening to an audio file some time later

I agree, something being weird isn't sufficient reason not to do it.

I'll try explain some of what I think about this without reference to ethics and will try not to be to esoteric about it...


If you are having a low success rate cold approaching in the street day, that's pretty much par for the course. Cold approaching is low yield. Street approaching is low yield. Cold approaching in the street... maybe if you are hitting on foreign girls they at least will talk to you and be friendly.

I think you are looking at this the wrong way around. The thoughts you are having are something like - oh, the reason that didn't go well is because I did x, if I'd done y it would have gone well - get over yourself.

Some girls straightaway fancy you and others don't. At whatever percentage that is for you given how you come across in general in this moment of your life. Mostly when things don't go well it's simply this - the girl didn't fancy you - there is nothing you can do about that. What people who get analytic about day game cold approach get good at is lengthening awkward conversations where there is no attraction.

Keeping a conversation going when neither participant is really invested nor interested is not the same thing as moving things forward when there is mutual attraction. More than that it seems to be counterproductive.

I think if it's cold approach in the street thoughts should mostly be - oh, there wasn't mutual attraction - and then forget about it.

There's way more value in improving your sensitivity to which girls are attracted to you and learning how to move those situations forwards. When you are with a girl and there's mutual attraction things like intonation, speed and topic choice don't matter hardly at all.

And all the important stuff to do with mutual attraction will not be evidenced on your audio file.
