Cocky and Funny, getting your foot in the door etc

Hi guys, I need some advice and support.

I'm really good at being funny and making women laugh, but less so (I suspect) at being cocky and conveying a high status.

When I'm being funny I can be very quick witted but when a woman riffs back on me I stumble and it creates a bit of a void. My mind tends to go blank for a retort. I've tried sitting down to "script" responses but it's a struggle. Partly because I have limited contact with women who aren't already friends; I also struggle to approach complete strangers. I'm just not as sharp as I once was in the brain department and I never learned to craft my wits towards picking up women and getting that spark.

My mental illness leaves me prone to being emotionally unstable; it's not a typical "needy" or "clingy" issue although on the surface it can appear similar. It's less easy to address and it leaves me feeling a bit daunted or intimidated.

I could, maybe, do wtih a mentor who I could just sit down with and talk, and maybe watch in action. It might get me thinking in the right way and give me something to work on. I could also perhaps do with knowing what bars or other venues are in Liverpool that are known pick up joints - places where it's slightly easier as everybody is looking for the same thing. (Dont' have to be classic, "hot" women. But a place where I can practice and gain confidence would be great!)
