Openers -

It always pays to have one opener you can crack out without even thinking about it when you see a set you want to talk to. No deliberation about what you think might sound good, just get in there with a bog standard opener.
I love my good mood opener. I've used it for quite a while, its simple and it starts the conversation in the right direction, Its grear for large sets since you can go round getting each person involved. Hey Guys what do you do to put yourself in a good mood? Or if you want to go for something more upfront, So who are you then...? So lets open it up, what openers do you guys use?

Who are you? - In a tone of voice that makes them feel they have to explain themselves to you..
Whats your name? - In a strange tone that kinda says I'm curious but not sure if i should be.. Again trying to make them prove themselves worthy.. Pretty much the only 'Canned' thing I ever use or else I hope something totally natural comes along to say on the way over to them.. Db.

walk up to them like you know them and ask
"So how do you know [insert friend's/random name]?" usually followed by "I don't know [x]" "You don't, oh well I'm daleinthedark"

What's your favourite dinosaur? Then immitate whatever they say - usually t-rex.
Talking about openors though you really can open with anything - jeffy licking the girls face.

Many use "who are you", but I have found that the following:
"Hey you look friendly, who are you?" Leads them to feel the need to live up the the assumption and be friendly.

Also remember kids, what you acually say does not matter, it is how you say it. Come across with confidence, speak clearly and don't go inside your head. If you get a bad reaction, smile and Continue. Don't be dependant on a positive reaction or loom for IOIs etc
