Gambling... (mental/Financial Health, I guess)

Has anyone here ever felt they have a bit of a gambling problem. I don't feel the need to gamble all the time or anything, but have always dabbled a fair bit since I was young. Anyway in the couple of years or so I occasionally have these really stupid binges where I waste horrible amounts of money, then get pissed off and not do it for ages until I'm financially sound and repeat the same stupid mistakes over again. Anyone had something similar or got any advice. Ta.

You dont enjoy winning!

Its the losing that makes you feel alive!!!!.

It's an interesting point, I don't think that's it completely. I do think it's something to with my tolerance and acceptance of risk and the emotional adrenaline that comes with not being in control of either being very poor or very rich. I think Lucien Freud (a terrible gambler) once talked about it being pointless unless your risking true loss, as the emotional spectrum doesn't get the full experience. The fact that it usually happens when I'm bored or drunk alone might make it more likely to be true.

Ive battled with addictions of various forms myself over the past 15yrs.
The best short version of advice i can give you to stop you gambling is DONT START!!!
Make it not an option fulllstop!! if you start it will set off you addiction/compulsion to gamble further and you know yourself once you have started you wont be stopping till your broke!!
It sounds like you have a massive gamble then shit yourself cos you blew it all, so you save get back on the straight and narrow again only to repeat the vicious cycle!!
Does you head fuck with you?? ie tell you things like just have one go it wont hurt??or im having a shit day ill just have a one gamble and ill feel a bit better then?? etc

I was addicted to poker. Two biggest pots i lost were £1200 and £1100. Pure addict. Lot of money for a 17/18 year old kid to be losing. Thing is when you've got rich parents who give you everything then you start working full time it was too easy to take full advantage of their generosity and just waste my wages. Thank god it's over. Wouldn't like to know how much i lost in total.

When i was testing my poker program on No limit poker tables online it was a roller coaster watching it win/lose $600 per pot and walk away leaving it playing for 12 hours

exciting coming back to it seeing wether you would have a giant + or - next to your bankroll tho!
