Pre-workout
 
Now I've started back to the gym, I'm interested in trying pre-workout.

I've read some funny reviews on Amazon about how it's affected people. It made me laugh but also a bit excited since obviously I don't do amphetamines anymore so I think it'll be funny to be buzzing around on this shit all day after going to the gym before work.

Who has experience with it? And which is the best? Etc etc

I've used it for the past 18 months and I find it really effective.

Pros:
Lift more
Go longer
Better/more consistent energy
Good supplements

Cons
Full of caffeine so it'll give you jitters
Itchy face/body

I used PhD Wired which I really likes and I'm currently using Musletech Neurocore. I go for recommendations from friends/gym mates and then decide on what tastes best (I had a bad experience with grape flavour) as they'll all have similar efficacy

I've been looking at Grenade 50 calibre & C4. They both look & sound great & have some decent reviews. There's mixed opinion on the taste & texture but it seems you just have to take a chance.

I was going to wait until I'm in my home town tomorrow as an old friend runs a supplements shop but on Amazon I can get a whey better deal.

Just ordered a 60 serving tub of c4 blue raspberry flavour pre-workout & 2kg of banana flavour diet whey. About £65 which is half of what I've seen in stores.

I always said I'd never bother with supplements but I'm excited. Because I'm taking this shit seriously this time.

Take half a scoop to start out with, go from there. Good energy and focus from preworkouts.

I've got some seriously strong pre-workouts, like literally feels like taking meth strong, but I have gone back to using some weaker ones because it interferes with my sleep schedule.

I'm not sure about platelets however blood you will be fine for, everything in these things is tested as safe for human consumption.

The only time this might change is if you order something "more powerful" from abroad that isn't approved for UK use and even then unless you're using something crazy stupid you should be fine!

Cancelled my order of c4 because I was in a supplement shop today in a town local to my home town & there were better offers than online.

So instead I got a 500g tub of Extreme Napalm Pre-contest with 90 servings for £22 (the c4 60 serving was £35).

Still gunna get the 2kg of diet whey for £30 on Amazon.

Can't wait to get home & snort some pre-gains before hitting the gym.

Took one scoop before going to the gym.

Whilst warming up about 25 minutes later I got a hit of some kind. I definitely felt it, whatever it was.

As for the workout. I did my HIIT on the treadmill -

10 minutes fast pace walk on the steepest incline

Then began walking the treadmill again for 30 seconds or so & went into my first sprint at 13.5 for 45 seconds. I then slowed it down to 5 for a minute & back up to 14, & added 0.5 to each 45 second sprint right up to my 8th & final sprint at 17 (I'm unsure if the treadmill goes by mph or kph) & did the entire thing at an incline of 2.

It's a hell of a cardio session. After it you are exhausted - which is how it should be, & it feels fucking great. I take my heart rate to 205-208 bpm.

I think the pre-workout helped me push through whilst increasing the speed each time. I did similar cardio 3 times during the week but this one I felt more oomph in myself.

Then onto weights I did 300 reps divided equally across 10 weight machines from, lat pulldown, chest press, arm curl, pecs & others.

I'll be doing this 3-4 times a week. Ideally every second day but obviously there will be times I can't stick to that so when I can't I'll catch up by doing 2 in a row.

Right now I'm sat here with a glass of wine & I'm feeling something that most likely is the pre-workout. I'm not sure what it is but I can feel it.

So I'll try 2 scoops next time.

Gunna be doing my weigh-ins on a Monday but couldn't help myself & just did one there now..

6lb lost since Monday when I started. That's 4 workouts.

I was 14st 10 at the start & now I'm 14st 4.

I think I want to be 11st but I fear that may actually be too skinny. I'll see how it goes.

Beat some PB's last night. My sprints during last week were completed in full however the breaks in between were not equal - some were 45 seconds & some were 90 seconds depending on how fucked I was.

But last night pushed myself to complete it all equally, in its entirety. My first sprint at 13.5mph(or)kph was done for 45 seconds. When I slow it down to 5 it takes 15 seconds to get there. At 45 seconds I start speeding it back up again which takes about 15 seconds to get back up again, & adding 0.5 to each sprint.

At about the 5th sprint I felt like taking a longer break... But then I was like no fuck that shit, keep going, & motivating myself out loud. Glad I kept going.

Then additionally to my 300 reps across 10 machines I thought fuck it & added 200 more crunches on the abs machine. Gunna do that each time too.

Also, took 2 scoops before this workout. Made me feel a little bit queasy when it was hitting me, like I could vomit at any second if I didn't focus. But thankfully this soon passed.

Hurt my knee a little from all the sprints. Also hurt the calf on my other leg.

I got support sleeves & compression wraps for them & thought it would be ok to keep sprinting with them.

I decided though that I'd play it safe & avoid making the situation worse. So instead I spent an hour power-walking at 6.5/7 mph at the steepest incline.

Stops me from further injury yet is still a pretty good cardio workout. Burned between 820/850 cals in that hour.

My protein got delivered too. So now I'm officially part of the #Gainz team.

Don't take Pre-workouts personally other than having some Caffeine in the form of tea or coffee. Otherwise I do find it messes with your system in the long run. And heck if I'm tired then part of the goal of my workout is to help build up my ability to summon up energy when I'm exhausted. So in essence going au natural in that respect trains my body to dig deep in its energy reserves when I'm wiped. I just give myself a bit of opportunity to start off slow with the workout and build it up in climax

Kaged muscle Pre-Kaged is great - well dosed and effective.
Stimumax is another well dosed product I use by strom sports.
Redcon1 Total War is also great for the DMHA - different kinda feel to the usual ones - if you want a buzz that works for most.

As you know, there are loads out there.

I'm a fan of using pre as and when you need it, not all the time and I recommend that.
