Default Sleep Quality - 21-07-2021, 11:58 AM

Just doing a quick search yielded nothing of relevance (not including sleeping *with* someone lol), so...

Whenever we have extreme temperatures (like the heatwave in the UK this week of 30 degrees plus), sleep issues tend to be exacerbated. For decent mental health you can exercise, learn new things, eat right and a whole load of things... But they're almost for naught if your sleep sucks.

I'm wondering what can be done to improve quality. This will sound pretty babyish, but here's a list:

- replacing pillows
- replacing mattress
- mattress/pillow covers
- Blue light filter on phone & computer 1 hour before sleep
- meditation
- melatonin or other sleep drugs
- diet and eating windows (avoiding sugar, caffeine or eating too much)
- exercise timing
- addressing anxiety
- who you're sleeping with

Thoughts?

Reading.

It's the best sleep aid, for me.

It's one of the reasons I don't get to read as much as I would like to. Because by the time I get to bed and mentally prepare to read for an hour, 4 pages in and I can barely keep my eyes open.

Also, there is no better sleep than getting up really early (the 5 am club) because by the time you go to bed you've been up for around 18/19 hours.

Unless you're a baby who goes to bed at 9 pm.

You can't win if you don't play

Those guys are great, they have some other funny ass sketches on that channel.

HAMMOCKS!
Since using one in the mountains now, even at home, I sleep in an ultra lightweight hammock.

I don't get hot in the long summers as air can pass all around the body. Normally you are hot and sweaty in a summer bed mainly on the underside because you are in contact with the mattress which prevents the circulation of air.

Other benefits are that you have no contact pressure points between you and the hammock as with a mattress ... it takes up way less room at night and hardly any in the day... I never have to "make the bed" just push the support against the wall and I only do that if I want to put the practice rail down and skate… also I think it is better for the spine, but that's a complicated sciencey thing that I do not understand though I've never woke up with a stiff neck etc.

How comfy it is and the slight rocking movement definitely help me fall asleep even faster than normal. Which is a sometimes disadvantage as I am not able to lay down in it to just chill and read or watch something as I almost instantly lose consiousness.

The other sometimes drawback but sometimes also an advantage is if I won't be expecting to bring a girl here but then do there's no bed out, so there's no question of staying over. I have a bed that I can get out if needs be but I have neve done that at 3am.

Peace,

kowalski

I'm pretty sure I read that hammocks fuck your back up big time.

Has anyone tried being a floor chad? Get rid off your gay mattress and bed and just sleep on a hard wood floor. Good for posture and has been known to increase both test and height.

Glad to have you here.

If it were me, I would continue as planned, but cut back the volume a bit until my body got used to the sleep patterns again.
