Default Is this diet good? - 13-03-2014, 03:31 PM

This is the new diet I've been trying out for the last month or two, with short periods of cheating in between.

I'll chop up a lettuce & a pack of spring onions & put them into a large food container, adding low fat grated cheese, & shake it all up.

So..

Breakfast - 2 weetabix with semi-skimmed milk

Lunch - portion of the leafy mix I mentioned above, a chopped tomato, a chopped boiled egg, salad cream, & a few rolled slices of ham

Dinner - as above but with grilled chicken fillet

Evening - same as dinner

Supper - same as lunch

For snacks, at the minute I have stocked up on weight watchers hot chocolate, crisps, & cookies, & I'll have one of each a day. And I'll have 2 Tesco low fat yogurts a day.

Until yesterday I was buying whole grain bread for sandwiches made from the leafy mix & ham, but I'm going to try & just have the contents without the actual bread.

I'll probably add chopped peppers to every meal, don't know yet.

I think this is an awesome diet, & combined with my 3 nights a week boxing training, is pretty much spot on.

Any disagreements?

One other thing, I would sometimes drink tea or coffee, usually with my sandwiches so it probably won't be as often now, but is it bad drinking tea & coffee with sugar when you're trying to lose weight?

I was 14 stone this time last year. I lost a stone by last summer but once I lost it I was sort of satisfied even though I wanted to lose more. Today I'm 12st 9lb (A few days ago I was 12st 13lb) & I like seeing the scales go down, so I am determined to keep this up until I have reached 11 stone.

I'll have a cheat meal every now & again, which will probably even be half salad, or a subway sandwich.

Good for what?

What are your goals? What is it your trying to achieve by this diet?

If its just weight loss then it sounds like its already working for you. Seems like you've created a calorie deficit with your choices and there are certainly some healthy options in there. I would add more protein in your breakfast and would cut that weight watcher shit out. For snacks I love to eat mixed nuts, coconut chunks and sugar snap peas. Also try drink plenty of water throughout the day. Other than that it seems alright but I'm not a nutritionist so someone else might be able to suggest something better for you.

Yeah it's basically just weight loss I'm after. I want to be 11 stone for summertime.

What's wrong with the weight watcher stuff? I realize there is a possibility of there being a catch, but what?

I do drink loads of water.

Cool, this diet sounds like its working for you then. You've already dropped weight with it and your exercising, all there's left to do it keep going.

Whilst this stuff is typically low calorie its loaded with preservatives and additives. Food like this with such low nutritional content tastes like shit so to make it appealing they jam it full of chemicals to make it taste good. There are a lot of hidden sugars in this type of food and consuming it keeps you trapped in the sugar cycle. It's my opinion that snacking is fine provided your smart about your snack choices. It's much better for me to eat whole, natural nutrient rich foods like nuts, berries & fruits.

Awesome, most people don't, it's a massively overlooked area. Keeping hydrated will help your metabolism, help exercise performance and help you loads in your weight loss goal.

Alritey.

What about tea & coffee with sugar? Let's say 2 cups of either a day? Good thing or bad in regards to weight loss?

It looks good for losing weight whilst keeping an intake of nutrients, especially if it works for you as not everyone is the same

I found the best thing for losing weight is to cut wheat altogether. This has it's best effect in the mornings

Look up the "slow carb diet" (not low carb). There are 5 simple rules and the weight loss is phenomenal. Even taking into account water weight

Be desireless. Be awesome. Be gone

low fat stuff is processed with loads of sugar. Your aim isn't less fat mate its losing weight. Less fat does not = less loss of weight. In fact it can hinder u. Avoid weight watchers crap.

try this. Intermittent fasting & Carb monitoring.

dont eat until 12 each day.

At 12 eat your salad and chicken (or green veg). (NO CARBS)

then for tea eat chicken (2x breasts) and 30g rice.

at 8 pm have a protein drink mixed with half a banana.

then don't eat again until 12 the next day.

Also try getting a bit of cheese in each day. Only like 50g. The fats in it r good 4 ur testosterone levels.

Intermittent fasting will shred you.

do this for 2 weeks. Then on day 14 go out and eat as much shit as u can fit in all day.

Then re-cycle.

Unless you stick to it religiously you don't get a cheat day.

(the cheat day actually helps lose weight if you do it properly)

(Its always better to have no carbs the days you dont do exercise but its very hard.)

this diet will help loads.

2 cups of Tea or Coffee (incidentally the caffeine in the coffee may help increase your metabolism) would be fine but i'd completely cut out the sugar that you put in it.

Think I might try this intermittent fasting. I'll probably do the chicken & salad twice though instead of rice. What protein should I get? I've never bothered with supplements. My mates get them for bulking & all that but I understand there is ones for weight loss too. Also, I assume that during intermittent fasting I can drink as much water as I like?

Tea & coffee without at least one sugar is just minging & I'd rather drink nothing. I'll try the green tea too.
