Motivation to lift

About 2-3 years ago i was pretty much addicted to the gym, i would go as oftern as i could and its was one of my favorite things to do. i got int a relationship and stopped going and now im finding it nearly impossible to get off my arse and go. id rather sit in bed fondling my balls.

At the moment i always feel tired and drained and i think this is because im not doing any excerise atall.

when i get into it there wont be a problem. anyone any advice on how to change my mentality or gain energy to motivate me to go?

Don't blame you.

If you're feeling groggy, have a look at what you're eating. A change in that can make a big difference. The amount of crap food I see people eating at work is unreal.

Yeah my diet is terrible, i crave shit food. for example today so far ive have a sausage scrambled egg and cheese on toast with a tea cake, 5 cups of coffee with 3 suggars in each and a doctor pepper with a kit kat chunky and its only 10 to 2

I found the best way to get back into exercise is by doing things you enjoy doing.

I started by cycling by the sea and running along by the river - it was just a case of not thinking about it, putting on my gear and getting out the door. And because I like doing those after a couple of weeks it was easy to throw in things I didnt like such as press ups and abs...

And like Nova said, food and diet will change you energy levels dramatically - don't forget water

Finding a training partner is vital, they help give you the motivation.

Beyond that and 'getting your ass to the gym', there isn't any motivation to get you there.

Try watching and reading bodybuilding articles and videos to get that fuel in there.

I used to kill the gym but now, even if I turn up, I can't be bothered even lifting. Lost over a stone in muscle and put on a belly. Best I've ever been with girls though!

I did a little post on this a while ago which has a link to some decent nutritional pointers. These are all realistic foods which can be added to your regular diet and built on:

I have stuck to many of the things I started and added further to my regular intake of essential foods. A a result my body and mind feel a lot sharper these days.

Blimey, with all that sugar I'm surprised you still have any teeth! I think this is your problem as to why you lack energy, if you are taking in far too many useless carbs in the form of sugar, they give you little hits of energy for a short period of time but after the hit is a longer drawn out come-down which makes you tired.

Try drinking less coffee with only 1 sugar at a time to start off with. The best thing to drink throughout the day for sustained hydration and alertness is water, boring I know.

Failing that, try sampling some of Nova's Nettle Tea and Unicorn piss - helps him stay harder for longer.......apparently.

Thought I'd bump this thread, finding it really difficult to get motivated recently, I used to do a load of training for these 10k runs and what not, but I've not visited the gym in over a month now and I'm starting to feel really sluggish. Though a lot of the gyms around here are really fucking pricey, does anybody know of a reasonable one? I'm not paying £60 a month lol!
