Post 17/08: AMoG Issues - 17-08-2010, 09:59 AM

Scenario
I'm out with a friend, and have been given an accomplished introduction by somebody I used to know and ran into recently. There's two HBs and a couple of fellas just to get in the way. The fellas are not in relationships with the HBs, nor do they look like they're interested.

Report

HBD joins the group. O1 and O2 are the men. After a good 30 seconds of HBD being in the group I decide to stop talking to HBG, and spend some time with HBD.

We start shouting conversation, but it's loud so I say to O1:
Quote:
Hang on mate, let me get past I can't hear a word she's saying.
So I'm now standing between her and O1, we have a few snippets of conversation, she starts to qualify herself and I'm pleased. But this fella gives me some rubbish reason for wanting me on his other side, and giving him the benefit of the doubt I say 'yeah sure' and start talking to him and HBG together.

It doesn't so much end there as I'd have liked. This fella constantly tries to make demands of me and won't let me isolate the girl. Eventually I let him try on my jacket just to shut him up.

It wasn't ALL bad, I managed to turn him away successfully and smoothly a fair few times.
Quote:
O1: Can I have a sip of your drink
Me: No, it's mine.
O1: Just a sip.
Me: No seriously, it's mine.
O1: Come on.
Me: No, this is my drink, there are many like it, but this one is mine. [etc etc, Full metal jacket quote]
Amongst the lads gathered that goes down well and he goes away.

The final part of that evening was after we'd left the group to talk to some others. We ran into them later on and I started talking to a new girl that had joined that group, with some success, [N-Close]. But honestly, as soon as we rejoined the group O1 was on us:

Quote:
Me: Mate, I'm pretty hungry, wanna call this a night? [Genuinely, it was late]
O1: Yeah you should definitely GO, and get some food. Go on, it's right over there, off you go.
Subtlety.

My Question
This made me think about all the times I've been AMoGed or just experienced aggression from other men. I'm not a big fella, but I could hold my own if it came to a fight.

Of course, I don't want to fight anybody, and I don't want to get AMoGed all the time. So, advice?

I have a standard line for things like that, I turn it around and tell the guy he is rude, and then ask his friends where they keep him locked up normally.

Biggest word of advice is no fighting, not fucking worth it. Im pretty confident I can handle my own thanks to years of boxing and MMA but I would never fight outside the gym if I have a choice,

Some guys are just dicks, there are shit loads of tips on how to handle an AMOG just look it up,
But if I was in your situation I would of just moved on, more bars more women, tell the girl is was nice meeting her, get a number and fuck off somewhere else.

“Can I have a sip of your drink?” ??????? what a fucking ass.

Yeah I didn't mean it to sound like I was considering fighting, like you I have a little training and a choice. It's just not fun.

Thanks for the responses

Edit: I looked into it, and of course you're right, there's tonnes of stuff on it. This was the first one I stumbled on.

AMOG Tactics - Bristol Lair

I'm not entirely convinced by all of it, but the concept of making the AMoG qualify himself to you seems sound, puts you on the higher ground. Now to try to work in into my game.

To be honest mate I rarely encounter AMOGs, if I see a male in a set that looks to have acquired the group’s alpha status, then I will open him with man talk, football, UFC etc then move onto the girls after its been clarified who in the set is single and who is not.

On the odd occasion I have had the amog try to belittle me, but I don’t let it effect me or my game.
An example from a while back:

Amog: in front of a HB set “ whats with the sunglasses? Mate it doesn’t make you look cool”

Wake: “hahaha, what a funny guy, isn’t he great!,” pat him on shoulder “ seriously mate I like you, you’re a funny guy”

It worked for me, im not sure whether he fucked off because he felt like a tit or because he thought he had got one over me and didn’t want to fuck up his winning streak with another gay joke.
An for record I had just got back from ladies day, had glasses n thought might as well make use of em.

yeah ill be honest i dont get it either... i usually get on with everyone in a group.... an if anyone starts bein a prick... id rather just leave coz id only end up fightin for nothin anyway...

all this AMOG thing is another selling tool. If someone is tooling u, the best weapon is LAF, take it as a joke and tool back if it gets aggressive dont turn to pick up artists for diffusing words... just accept that set wernt for u....

move on

Word. Just don't let someone who's trying desperately to push your buttons affect you. Once you do, the girls who see this will lose attraction for you.

Cool, thanks for the responses, seems to be pretty clear that I'm taking things too seriously. I'm gonna get working on my inner game for tonight. Wish me luck.

I reckon this is the best course of action. Don't rise to the challenge. If you do you lower your value immediately, and significantly. If you acknowledge, but don't rise to the challenge, your value increases (although it may not be apparent at the time, but the girl will remember) as you are in complete control of the situation. Anger represents a loss of control.

On the subject of AMOGs speaking to you in a this kind of way, I had one say (unbelievably) to me at a house party the other weekend: "You're *not* gonna fuck her tonight."

Where are all these so called amogs hiding?? ha aint experienced this..rather it just sounds like a bunch of dckheads than amogs.. Otherwise similar at the most I would just Laugh anyways...Sometimes best response... is no response! aint one for quoting Budda but makes good point...

Buddha was walking into the city market one day and near the city entrance an old bitter man was sitting on a box glaring at Buddha, who carried a bright smile on his face. At the sight of him this old man started cursing Buddha up and down, left right and center, telling him how pretentious he was, how much better he thought he was and how he did nothing worthy of the air he breathed in this world. But Buddha simply smiled and kept on walking to the market to get what he needed.

The Next day Buddha returned to the market and once again that old man was there, this time his cursing intensified, screaming and yelling at Buddha as he walked by, cursing his mother, cursing his father and everyone else in his life.

This went on for the rest of the week and finally as the Buddha was leaving the market the man came up to him, as his curiousity had simply gotten the best of him."Buddha, every day you come here smiling and every day I curse your name, I curse your family and everything you believe in” the old man says ” but every day you enter this city with a smile knowing that I await you with my harsh tongue, and everyday you leavethrough the same entrance with that same smile. I know by speaking to you now that you are not deaf, why do you keep on smiling while I do nothing but scream the worst things I can think of to your face?”

Buddha, with the same smile still on his face looks at the old man and asks “If I were to bring you a gift tomorrow morning all wrapped up in a beautiful box would you accept it?” to which the old man replies “Absolutely not, I would take nothing from the likes of you!”. “Ah ha” the Buddha replies “Well if I were to offer you this gift and you were to refuse then who would this gift belong to?”. “It would still belong to you of course” answers the old man. “And so the same goes with your anger, when I choose not to accept your gift of anger , does it not then remain your own?”

The brave may not live forever but the cautious don't live at all"
