I'd be inclined to think that any talk of witnesses is because they are following the disciplinary procedure to the letter to achieve s clean dismissal if you can't reach an agreement. I would also assume that is the reason for the physical letter alongside the email.

It would be a vindictive, scummy thing to do to someone who simply wants to do their job from home because I'm dealing with the shock of a sibling bereavement. If they want to go down that road then they better get ready to suck up the negative PR of not only kicking a staff member when they're down but actually using it against them as a tool to dismiss them. Because it's not like I won't let the fucking world know what they did.

I guess if they're determined to power-trip me back into the office before I'm ready then fine. back me into a corner, then. I'm leaving soon anyway. I just don't see the point in walking away from the 5k of wages due to me between now and the end of the year. I might as well lift those cheques.

I'm on probation for the promotion I took in June. So, I believe I'm in the easier territory to fire, but I was there for a year beforehand, so maybe not. Again, if they did do sneaky shit, I'll shame them.

I'm bringing a companion to the meeting anyway. It's a new guy, but a guy who I worked with for 3 years in my last company. He's actually got a physical disability and for that reason has an understanding of working from home most of the time. He knows about disability discrimination and I'm sure he'll weigh in if he feels I'm being fucked.

I'm sure it'll be fine, though.

So, it was somewhat confrontational.

There were "concerns" raised about how my working from home has been detrimental in a few ways, amongst some other accusatory stuff, which I don't really care to explain because I'm going to be leaving anyway, so it doesn't really matter (except when I out them on Glassdoor). Long story short, the idea is to get me back in the office FT by this time next month. I'll probably start with a day or two next week, then gradually move up to FT by the time a month has passed.

I don't necessarily want to do it, and I do feel it's rather inconsiderate and pressurized, despite their claims of "we totally sympathize with your situation....but we need you in the office"

I also think it's important to note once again that if I was still with my last company, I'd be in my third month of six months fully paid compassionate leave. I can't help comparing this major difference.

However, I feel I've been bought some time at the very least. Because by the time I'm back FT in the office, I'll be ready to deliver my resignation notice that I'm going to be finishing up with them at the end of the year.

Technically I already have a contract in which I'm employed by a US-based company on the side as a freelancer. I'll be transitioning to permanent in the new year and leaving this shower of shitebags behind. I'll still be contracted, of course, but with FT hours.

Only two more months. I really want to walk, but I decided I'm not going to let them win and I'm going to take their money right up to December 31st.

I believe I've been set up.

I was given a list of changes to make and long story short; some customers called up and complained after I made the change to their monthly direct debit.

I was given instructions to 'investigate' their account and call them. After reviewing the first couple of accounts I raised a concern that the figures weren't correct and I was changing direct debits to a higher amount than they should have been.

I got a reply from the financial director explaining why the figures were what they were, and told to proceed.

I got told before the end of the day that a number of people had called to complain (I knew the figures were too high) and now I'm in trouble.

In hindsight, if this is to be used against me, I can see how they've constructed this. Even the wording of the emails. They got me.

I don't like how they've done it, but if they're to process me out based on this and anything else they've gathered up, I'll actually be relieved to be finished with them.

I'm not going quietly though. They'll be exposed.

I got to resign three weeks early. It was a mutually agreed departure.

I'm absolutely releived to have some freedom for the remainder of the year, and time to reflect and prepare for what's ahead.

These MBA studies officially begin on Saturday, and it would also probably be a good idea to use some of the free hours to promote the editing business I had absolutely ZERO time to do anything with. I should make it a goal to have my first client before the end of the month.

And I'm buzzing that I can also get to read more.

Excited at my newly created flexibility.

It's all gravy baby.

Wanna know what's nuts?

The company I recently resigned from is shutting down.

My friend who still worked there resigned last week because she sought another position and then it was announced yesterday.

It makes me a tiny bit sad because I recall how exciting it all sounded when they approached me two years ago with this proposition, only for it to become nothing but a headache from the day of launch. Although I'm glad I got to leave on my own terms and not under an official redundancy.

The timing of all this is kinda crazy but it gives me confidence that my decision-making is absolutely on point.
