Day something of semi-quarantine..

Although there are some changes, despite no official lock-down, there are still retarded people all over the UK and Ireland going to the fucking beach and shit. The retarded pieces of shit.

The way it's going and with the rate that cases are being confirmed, we're probably fucked within 2 weeks. Boris isn't a proper leader, he is making half-assed "decisions" like ok schools are closed and you should close businesses, but he seems afraid to make the shout that the country goes on lock-down.

This is despite other countries, namely Italy, pleading for us to LOCK-DOWN!

I mean, how much more serious of a scenario do you need than an ICU nurse in full protective gear, with a backdrop of actual COVID-19 sufferers, telling you you should LOCK-DOWN, before you do so?

I felt sorry for him the other day because I know he must be under a lot of pressure. But then he goes and ignores and disrespects our Italian neighbours who are giving us advice out of love for a fellow human being, so that we may not suffer the same fate. I hate him.

I'm just coming around from another anxiety attack. I discovered earlier that the British army are in Northern Ireland and they were stopping cars. Now, they may be here to aid us etc, but the fact that they are here scares the shit out of me. Because I know this is a potential small step to a much more sinister outcome. Plus we have the added risk of dissident republican IRA cunts not taking kindly to brits being on our streets, and trouble happening there, aside from the fucking virus stuff.

Since we aren't taking Italy's advice, we could be overwhelmed in a week or so. I sincerely hope my theory is wrong, but it could happen.

As confident and positive motherfucker that I am, I've never been more afraid about my/our future.

So we're on UK lock-down now.

Spent half the evening arguing with idiots on Facebook who were too dumb to understand what his address meant.

Many of them were like "but he didn't say lock-down!" and I pointed out that by listening for one word you missed everything else he said. I think they literally want to hear frightening words used like YOU ARE ORDERED TO....

In reference to my previous post I realised I said in the one before that, that I wasn't going to allow myself to get scared again, yet I did.

Need to just chill. Now that Boris has made the right call, let's just hope it all works out (with our help of course).

Also, three hours into lock-down some idiot new neighbour of mine knocked my door asking if I had any weed. Felt like smacking him.

I thought these doods had already shortlisted and essentially eradicated me from their candidate pool, but they emailed me again after a 2 month hiatus, interested in a further discussion about their live opportunities. We had a further call this morning.

Since our last chat, a guy who used to be my team leader at my current office has been recruited there as team manager. There's no problem with this, in fact she told me today that he vouched for me when she mentioned she had spoke with me.

They want to start us in early June with 3 energy specialists (this would include me), for 3 weeks training in preparation for official company launch on June 22nd. We would be working from home initially, or until the Corona fucks off.

Long story short, when I consider this strategically, this is a really great opportunity. To be the very first staff of a brand new company in an industry you have 5 years experience with can only mean fast advancement up the hierarchy, which she even alluded to on the call. When the second wave of recruiting happens in September, team leaders and trainers will then be needed, and guess who would be in the best position to get those roles? Personally I feel I'd be best suited to a trainer role, what with me being an outgoing, charismatic cunt. She also confirmed that they are backed/supported/invested in by a number of large fuel organisations here, and they have plenty of money behind them (this was in response to my question of security during the probation phase).

Add to that, bigger salary and better hours, and you have what is most definitely a more attractive position than I'm currently in.

I did tell her I had a potential "project" coming up in June that may be an obstacle. The "project" is a medical trial for nearly 4k. The trial is currently still scheduled, but they are keeping an eye on the whole corona situation and will let us know at the end of the month whether it's going ahead or not. I secretly want it to be cancelled, because that would make this decision easier. But even if it doesn't get cancelled, I think ultimately it would be worth sacrificing the 4k trial in favour of career advancement.

The Centre of Excellence are doing all their online courses for £29 for the month of April. They usually average around 150 per course.

I wouldn't have known this if it wasn't for a random Facebook advert this morning, but I'm glad that ad did pop up.

I bought two courses.. Addiction Therapy Diploma (level 3) and NLP Master Practitioner (level 4).

Since I have at least another 5 weeks off work, I am now quite literally spoilt for choice in terms of staying entertained. I still have one of the life coaching courses to do too.

I'd like to smash these 3 courses over the next 5 weeks but I'm not naive enough to think I can manage that (the NLP one requires up to 200 hours alone) but I'll try my best to at least finish the life coaching certification and then do the 150 hour addiction diploma.

I've recently been looking at masters degrees as well, with Mental Health Science being the subject that's got my attention more than any else.

I'm starting to get an urge again for academic study.

I got the job with the new company, starting in a few weeks. We'll be the very first staff they ever hire.

After 6 months off recovering and healing from snapping my arm off at the elbow in December, it's going to be very nice walking into a brand new role with a brand new organisation rather than going back to my old job.

It's been a stressful 6 months for personal family reasons and shit, so I'm embracing this as a well needed fresh start / clean slate.

Just sent off my official acceptance of employment for the literal new company I'm starting with this Monday the 1st of June.

I had a minor feeling of anxiety earlier when reading the contract. There was nothing in particular that concerned me, as it's all very basic contractual employment terms, but it just got very real that I was starting a new job after 5 years in my old one. And that feeling is intensified by me being off for 6 months recovering from an injury then going right into this new role.

The anxiety was more excitement than concern, though. I saw the soft-launch website last night on LinkedIn, and to think I've secured the opportunity of being the very first wave of staff members this company ever hires feels quite exclusive. Obviously they've got about 10 staff already, getting the show on the road (marketing, acquisition, operations etc) but I'm the first staff for when we go live. And even at that I could potentially be the only one, because one of the originals dropped out and another couldn't be contacted. So unless there were other suitable candidates next in line as backups, I could actually be the only person to begin with.

I'm cool with whatever happens though. This is most certainly the greatest career opportunity I've ever had.

First 2 weeks in the new job have been pretty much a breeze. I've been learning about the company's plans and getting to meet everyone, mostly virtually, but some face to face.

Met the CEO the other day. We chatted for a while and then he gave me his personal mobile number, telling me to give him a bell any time I have any new ideas or anything.

The CEO giving me his number may sound small on paper, but it's not very small when you came from a world where you were just a replaceable number, where the CEO would be like, what? Dan who?

We'll be very much engrossed in training next week. We have 2 new recruits starting on Monday. One guy who my boss already knows, and a cute, energetic little brunette. So after 2 weeks, there will be a welcome change in dynamics from week 3 onward.

The reason for getting these was because the short business course I've just done kind of unveiled to me that I should or could start a coaching business.

Regardless, this appears not only enjoyable to me but highly valuable no matter if I start a coaching business or not. Plus I got it at a huge discount.

(26 quid rather than 400 in case you're interested)
How are you finding the life coaching course? I got the same one (with Kain Ramsey, Scottish bloke) last year for the same discounted price. Lots of value in there, although I nearly gave up because of his early style of repeating "You may not me but ____" "You may find me annoying but ___" for the first few hours made him annoying.

Well done on starting a new job when many are losing their jobs right now.

Something I found most helpful was being able to increase the speed to x1.5. With over 80 hours of lectures, that was a godsend.

I thought the material was ok. Has a lot of similarities to counselling strategies - paraphrasing the client, facilitating them in finding the answers themselves etc.

Yeah, it was unexpected but very much welcome. I know it was a privileged situation to be faced with in light of the current economic climate, but for that reason in itself I wasn't going to pass up on the opportunity.

I read an article on Linkedin at the weekend by this journalist lady who had read The 5am Club and decided to try it out. She of course then goes on to highlight how much it's changed her and her husbands life etc etc.

So I decided to try it myself. I didn't read the book though, I don't need to. That's one of those books where everything you need is in the title, just like "Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway".

I've got up at 5am each day since Monday and it's been awesome. Obviously it's very early days but in the morning before I leave for work I have 3 hours to fill with activities. Which have so far included meditation, working out, studying, reading, and writing. I make a schedule the night before and cross it off as the activity is complete. The activities are structured in 30 minute, and 1 hour segments.

You get almost a half a work days worth of shit done before even going to work.

I don't know why, but I've always found it easier to get up around the 5am mark as opposed to 7 or 8am. Perhaps it's the psychological thing about getting a head start on the day and all that jazz. Regardless of what the reason is as to why I find it easy, I really fucking like it.

When I hit the hay at 11/11:30pm, I am out like a light and sleep like a baby. The sleep quality is 10/10.

I'm intrigued about reviewing this experiment after say, a month.
