Well aren't I glad I didn't give in to that salesman trying to push Microsoft office on me as part of a package where you got office, antivirus, cloud back-up + storage, plus some other USB system back-up thing, & all set up by one of the helpful sales assistants for only £155 extra.

Haha.. I was actually almost convinced to go ahead with it at one point.

I did get the antivirus tho. It was an £80 product that you got for £20 with a laptop purchase.

I bought a Windows computer. How come shit automatically pops up saying you need to protect it?

If this is McAfee or one of those, read up on it but it's probably better not to install it.

YYeah it's McAfee. Without reading up, why's it better not to install it?

I don't use antivirus software. I just don't do anything stupid, so my devices don't get viruses.
My last laptop I had downloaded loads of silly shit like thr daygame blueprint & streamed loads of live boxing which sometimes was on crappy shitbag channels

I think I might just leave it as it is for now then & not use the antivirus.

I'll just not do stupid shit on it.

I run 2 machines with Linux and one with Windows.

Windows defender works the way an antivirus should, it self updates and stays in the background unless it needs you to do shit.

Anything that is 3rd party is trying to justify it's existence or up-sell you with tons of pop-ups and interruptions to your browsing so you're thinking "thank fuck you're here"

Windows defender has been popping up on my device. Think I'll just allow it to work it's magic.

McAfee has also been popping up though saying "YOU ARE NOT PROTECTED"

Which, is just them attempting to sell to me, I presume.

I had pretty much decided with 99% certainty that I was going to be using Shopify to host my online store. However, I then stumbled upon this UK based website building service...

https://www.ekm.com/

Within minutes of taking a peek around their site, one of their agents popped up on a live chat to ask how they could help.

In a nutshell, they pretty much offered right away to have one of their account managers arrange to call me so I could discuss my plans and ideas and ask any questions or queries I may have.

Initially I was concerned that, as I have yet to make a decision on my target audience and market etc, that it would be an ineffective phone call. However the agent told me that this wouldn't be a problem - perhaps they might even assist me in finally figuring this bit out.

Shopify of course are the more popular of the two, with undoubtedly more users. However that just means they would have less time to help their customers. They are US based and that worries me.

These guys, EKM, are UK based. So no issues with time differences if I needed to call them with a problem. Plus, my first impressions are definitely good ones. They are clearly on the ball, what with their swift and prompt actions not only in popping up for a chat almost immediately, but in arranging a call with one of the account managers.

I've got nothing to lose by taking the call and having a chat with them. I gotta start somewhere, and this opening has certainly captured my interest.

Yes absolutely.

Of course they're intending to make a sale, but I'm not going to just jump on it right away. I don't even have a business plan in place yet.

It'll be interesting to see what they chat with me about. If they are as decent as I perceive them to be so far, they'll be patient & willing to help me on my way rather than rush me into signing up with them immediately.

You're starting a business but don't know what you want to sell?
